Let's try again
I did a really dummy job trying to post this last night. Let's try again.

I am getting quite excited about the trip to Montana developing on the montana tt thread. Anyone else from California thinking of going? If we get a van's worth we can do a bonzai drive inprobably about 20 hours. I know it is early to commit but it is never too early to plan.

Montanans to California
pepperDog, that sounds like fun! I've done Billings to Phoenix in 24 hrs. and San Francisco to Missoula in 24 hrs. I'd still like to go on your trip, though!

BTW I'm going to be in CA next November 9th, either in Chico or down at Fullerton. I'll know which one a little later. I'm hoping Chico!

Aero, I'm 45 min from Chico and Fullerton.....let me know when you get here if you have time. Can take you to the local mtns or the Sierras. WLD is close by, and always willing to hike. He knows the local mtns better than I do.

still early yet...
I'm in Costa Mesa kinda by Fullerton, the airline prices aren't too bad though, but a good road trip can be a thing of beauty. I'm not committing to anything yet, considering I've only started posting and am basically a big stranger...

No, no, not moving, just visiting. I travel a lot in the Fall. We were down in the Sacramento area (Rocklin) a couple years ago, and Pomona last year. This year it was Rapid City, SD, Spearfish, SD, Boulder, CO Missoula, MT, Honolulu, HI, and Bellingham, WA.

Next year it's about the same except the last two trips will be Hilo, HI and Fresno or Chico.

Does a Michigander-transplant-to-California-and-maybe-someday-to-Arizona hiker count?

Whadda you think, Obi. Would you consider carpooling?

Aero - Too bad it wasn't Fullerton. I live 2 miles from Cal State Fullerton.

I drove to Great Falls in little over 24 hours. I will probably drive. And maybe swing by Yellowstone and the Tetons on the way back down. It depends on how much time I can stay away from work...

I just looked on Cheaptickets and found flights from Sacto to Billings for $370ish. The best part is that the way there just had a little over an hour stopover in Salt Lake City and the way back was a direct flight. That makes flying more tempting.

Aero...I'm 1 hour south of Fresno.
Sequoia National Park and Kings Canyon are directly East of Fresno.
Lots of great hiking there!

I'm going to have to make a California trip if you guys can get up to Montana! I should be down there next fall, but only for a few days.
