jmitch -- where's that link trail???View MessagesViewing posts 1 to 9 of 9 messages posted.
jmitch... “Where's the link trail you mentioned?” 6:18:30 PM 11/30/01 “the link trail is a 70 mile trail connecting cowans gap and greenwood furnace state parks, in south central PA. it's called the link because it joins the tuscarora trail to the mid state trail. Backpacking the entire trail is difficult because much of it crosses state game lands (no camping, yet) and there are a few private property issues. regardless, it is an excellent ridge top trail with incredible views (but also dry and rocky). The trail passes several historic areas, most notably the 1000 steps in Jacks Narrows near Mt. Union. The best backpacking section is between Greenwood Furnace and the Rocky Ridge Natural Area (unique rock formations). More awesome views and a scenic scrub, hemlock, pine ridge top forest. Contact the Rothrock State Forest for free maps, also check the Keystone Trails Association website. Don't have the web address/ phone #s w/ me now, you can email me at jmitchmitch@hotmail.com.” 7:13:01 AM 12/03/01 “Hey jmitch - the "bushwhacking" trip report is gone, are ya still going to do it?” 7:09:44 PM 1/12/03 “not sure what you're talking about, the waterfall one?? i put it on the trips page but it was lost after TT crashed for a few days. i thought about a TT trip on the link trail” 11:06:03 PM 1/12/03 “I think he means the other Link trail in Central PA. I read the article about your book in the Cornerstone section of the paper yesterday, Jmitch. It was nicely done with some cool pictures.” 5:55:59 AM 1/13/03 “thanks rich, they did a nice job i thought. those waterfalls are in SGL 13.” 6:58:55 AM 1/13/03 “I though it might be Pigeon Run near Masten.” 7:01:04 AM 1/13/03 “it's a place you need to visit rich, exceptionally beautiful. go to jamison city, a little west of ricketts glen. tons of awesome waterfalls, it's like a second ricketts glen.” 7:26:13 AM 1/13/03 “I've been to Jamison City many times, but to mountain bike on the fire roads around the gamelands. I like that one climb from Jamison city to Ricketts glen on the dirt road for riding the mountain bike. It climbs 1300 feet elevation gain. Never hiked in the backcountry there though.” 3:05:48 PM 1/13/03
