This one is from the paragon of truth and accuracy in reporting.

"Among the isolated, out-of-step losers who dare open their mouths to mutter "doubts" about America's military campaign in Afghanistan, you will sometimes hear the traitorous comment: "This war is just about oil."
We here at the Global Eye take stern exception to such cynical tommyrot. No one who has made a clear and dispassionate assessment of the situation in the region could possibly say the new Afghan war is "just about oil."
It's also about drugs.
For although we must now hail the warlords of the Northern Alliance as noble defenders of civilization, the fact is that for some time they have also functioned as one of the world's biggest drug-dealing operations. Indeed, one of the main sticking points between the holy warriors of the alliance and their ideological brethren in the Taliban has been control of the profitable poppy, which by God's grace grows so plentifully in a land otherwise bereft of natural resources. (Always excepting the production of corpses.)
In the good old days, when the mujahedin were united against the Soviet devil, all shared equally in the drug-running trade, under the benevolent eye of that great lubricator of illicit commerce, the CIA. When the Northern Alliance was driven from Kabul -- having killed 50,000 of the city's inhabitants during its civilized rule -- the Taliban seized the lion's share of Afghanistan's opium production. The noble lords managed to hold on to several prize fields in the north, however, and together with avaricious Taliban, they helped fuel a worldwide rise in heroin traffic.
Earlier this year, the U.S. administration bribed the Taliban to stop growing opium -- a most effective use of baksheesh, according to the United Nations, which found that Afghan opium production dropped from 3,300 tons annually to less than 200. But the Northern Alliance leapt manfully into the breach, engineering a threefold rise in opium output in its territory this year."

Why not just use www.exile.com as your source. Any ignoramus can have a web site and spout their view. BTW drug dealing etc... is not some new stunning revelation regarding Afghanistan, its old news man.

What about spending it with your wife and kid? The love of a family can go a long way towards alleviating political disgruntled ness. And it can do it at an exponential rate, too. 8)

To quote a great statesman:
"This aggresson shall not stand! Take your communist manifesto and shove it up your a$$!"

I believe it was Tarp L. Rat who spoke those infamous words.

Sounds like we're wrong in someone's books regardless of whomever we make friends with. It's easy to sound morally superior when you live a comfortable life back in the USA. Personally, I would be growing opium poppies too if that was the only way I could get the necessities I needed for my family and I to survive.

Every group in that area grows opium regardless of the politics. Pakistan is a big exporter.

On behalf of several members of the community, I would like to express my shock and disappointment at some of the Taliban's morals. First things first: There
is no justification on any level whatsoever for the Taliban's malign cajoleries. (Actually, the Taliban has an utter disregard for human life, but that's not important
now.) If we let the Taliban feed us ever-larger doses of its lies and crackpot assumptions, then greed, corruption, and sensationalism will characterize the
government. Oppressive measures will be directed against citizens. And lies and deceit will be the stock and trade of the media and educational institutions. We
must not miss our chance to detail the specific steps and objectives needed to thwart the Taliban's haughty schemes. But it doesn't stop there.

All the same, I'm sure the Taliban wouldn't want me to eavesdrop on its meetings. So why does it want to scapegoat easy, unpopular targets, thereby diverting
responsibility from more culpable parties? We should be able to look into our own souls for the answer. If we do, I suspect we'll find that I recently informed it
that its lackeys violate all the rules of decorum. The Taliban said it'd "look further into the matter." Well, not too much further; after all, the Taliban says it's
going to create anomie one day. Good old the Taliban. It just loves to open its mouth and let all kinds of things come out without listening to how sordid they
sound. Generally speaking, the Taliban is entirely incorrigible. We all are, to some extent, but it sets the curve. The Taliban insists that jingoism is the key to
world peace. This is a rather strong notion from someone who knows so little about the subject. In closing, all that I ask is that you join me to stop the Taliban
and speak out against unsophisticated, dishonest miscreants.
