Beauty.

"Southern Pacific" always reminds me of a car I once knew. It was owned by one of my mother's friends who lived down the block, and she let me borrow it from time to time: a white 1970 Coupe de Ville convertible named 'Snowflake'.

I called it 'Moby Dick' LOL.... it was like driving a convertible Winnebago. I'd crank it up and punch in the Neil Young cassette... That steam whistle would blow and we'd roll down the highway.

StoveStomper, Treebeard, glad to find some other Little Feat fans. Oh how I miss Lowell. I'm so glad I didn't miss my one chance to see them. Bonnie Raitt opened, yee ha!

Pekka, he was awesome. Underrated by a lot of folks too, IMO...

I saw them without him, though. Paul Barrere sang lead, I believe. Really good show, BTW. But, the main man was definitely missing...

I hadn't realized Craig Lee Fuller had joined Little Feat later.
He put out the first two great Pure Prairie League ablums in the early 70's. I believe he was in American Flyer also.

I wasn't aware of that either, SS...

I saw the Feat in, I believe, around 1980. it wasn't too long after his death...

What I need is to figure out a good way to burn CDs from my vinyl albums.

I have been thinking the same thing, SS. I accumulated over a thousand on vinyl alone. The thought of the tedium of putting them on CD is nauseating. But, it should be done eventually. As it is, I have three turntables, so I am not lacking for a way to play them...

But speaking of Little Feat, didn't Emmy Lou Harris join in on an album or two way back?

Peter Tosh - Legalize It

This CD is a subliminal mind-ride back to my impetuous and borderline self-destructive past. Youth is often wasted on the young. ;-)

I feel some Israel Vibration coming on soon. Reggae moods must be properly fed, after all.

man dood, neil young was one of the people who influenced me bigtime when i first started getting into playing guitar. along with the band "america". i collected anything i could find by them and at one time could play and sing(not as well as young, of corse) most anything he/they did, by heart. i've seen him several times live and if you never have, i highly reccomend it. he's like a musical machine when he's up there alone....seeing him the first time just blew me away ....it helped me improve so much on guitar...the way he gets totally absorbed in the music...part of the sound. it's hard to explain to someone who's not a musician, but it's really what performing is all about.... for me personally, this "concept" i'm trying(inadequetly) to explain is the reason i love to play and perform so much. it's "the rush"..."the high"....being part of the music, making the sound, feeling the emotion of a song. my wife sometimes says..."you just wanna be a rock star, so all the girls will fall all over you". nothing could be farthur from the truth. it's all about the music. getting completely wrapped up in the sound at any given second. eventually my style drifted into a much stronger blues style but i still love NY and america too.

anyways, i digress, as usual...

thanks for the NY lyrics, i'd forgotten that one.

some of my favorite NY songs are;
sugar mountain
love is a rose
old man
heart of gold
hey hey, my my
down by the river
cinnimin girl
all in a dream

Classical Gas - Mason Williams I think. Used to be a musician on the Smothers Brothers show. Also the band he used to play with became Manhein Steamroller, currently known for Christmas music.

For Sure, Strat. Funny thing you should mention America --- I've recently been trying to work out "Don't Cross The River"... off and on. Lotsa chords in that mofo!

And Mason Williams... What a nut!

Them Clod-Busters

How 'bout them clod-busters,
Ain't they neat;
Bust'n them clods flat,
With they feets.

Stomp'n them big clods,
Bust'n them little;
Mash'n them dirt clods,
In they middle.

Look at them clod-busters,
Have'n lots of fun;
Kick'n ever dirty clod,
Stomp'n on the run.

How to be a clod-buster,
Fix'n fields to sow;
Just find ya-self a dirt clod,
And bust it with ya toe!

He was also famous for doing weird stuff like the book that unfolded to become a lifesize photo of a Greyhound bus (currently out of print, LOL).

I was packing up my albums yesterday to put in storage till I move. I had forgotten how many I had. I need to check my turntable out and see if it still works.
I ran across one album just called Winwood. I think it was an unauthorized album some record company put out that was eventually pulled from the stores.

I think I have that one, Ewker. It's a compilation, right? Winwood is written along the side from bottom to top and it's a brownish, tannish color. Double LP with Spencer Davis and Traffic tracks on it. Is that what you have?
Treebeard

Tree, that is it. I emailed Winwood's website asking about that album. Not sure why kind of response I will get. I know I have looked at every web site and no one even mentions this one

Let me know what they say. I also have one of Woody Allen's stand-up stuff (double LP) that must have been put out by the same people. It has the same format in the way the cover is done...

pekka, don't throw away your vinyl records.

When I got the turntable fixed a few years ago and played some records I was struck by the depth of the sound compared to CD's.

Now all I need is a tube stereo amplifier to get "real" organic sound.
