He'd write me letters back in Michigan telling me what bands he was seeing in the Bay Area clubs. One day he was driving in Berkeley and passed some hippie cowboy lookin' dude who was hitchhiking, noticed the silver heels on the guy's cowboy boots and slammed on the brakes.
