LOL Pathman! That's funny.

I'm listening to Earth Wind and Fire again. I think it is impossible for me to be in a bad mood while I listen to them. I particularly like Fantasy.
There is this one lyric that makes me laugh:

"It's your day, shining day, all your dreams come true."

"shining day" always sounds like "chardonnay" to me and makes me giggle.

I'm not exactly a very pious person but I do find myself really enjoying Gosphel music. I'm listening to Gladys Knight; The Saints Unified Voices: One Voice. Very good.

Man I found the best CDs by a guy named Matisyahu. I saw a clip from the Jimmy Kimmel Show of this Chassidic guy doing this unbelievable Reggae music. He mixes traditional Chassidic songs with reggae music. I haven’t heard anything this uplifting and intense in years.

Live vid clip

Matisyahu is very big on allowing taping and I found a site with like 14 complete live shows to down load. SCORE!

Live stuff

I also found live shows of Bela Fleck that goes clear back to 1985. I was trying to send the link to Budder but can't find an e mail for him anywhere. Hope he sees it here.

Cinco de Mayo
On NPR today I listened to "Peter and the Wolf," in Spanish. It was recorded in 1958 and sounded great.

The other side of the record, I heard, had the selection in English. When I return home, I'm going to have to search for a copy of it for my youngest granddaughter. She is growing up bi-lingual.

I’m 36 but my tastes range across centuries. I like a bunch of different stuff. The last few Cds I’ve bought have been ELO’s Greatest Hits, Matisyahu (Orthodox Jewish Reggae), Steve Vai…I’m just kind of all over the place. I have everything from the Mammas and the Poppas to Vavaldi, to Vanilla Ice (yeah, I said it!).

The ultimate backpacking stereo system
This website called 41hz.com have these amp modules kits that kick out 25x2 watts with 12 volts. You have to solder all of the parts on the boards but with a decent soldering iron, you can put one together in an afternoon. They are a fun project.

These are tiny. 1/2 the size of a pack of cigarettes, and put out some great sound. Guys use these for their home systems. Put it in a 5x2" Radio Shack project box with a few banana jacks and a 8 AA battery holder and MP3 player and bingo....The ultimate sound system.

Oh yeah..don't forget the speakers, and Nigal..I have Fragile, Close to the Edge and The Yes Album on my MP3 :) Listening to it right now.

These are the ones I use. 12oz. With 4 AA batteries. I normally leave the batteries at home and just use the speakers non-amped. They won’t blow you away with volume but on the trail I don’t need that. They do sound awesome though. Combined with the Sony MD player It's a nice little system. The MD disks hold five hours on each disk and the player is like 4 oz. Battery life on the speakers is 24 hours and the player goes for 40 hours on one battery.
