Anything Mozart is inspiring. FYI - we have a really nice Mozart festival in Woodstock every year in July. It was broadcast on WTTW this weekend. Today on the way in though it was Dwight Yokem and Jimmy Eat World (long drive) Maybe Brandenburg concertos for the ride home.” 9:20:22 AM 11/20/06 “Mozart: Violin Concerto No. 2 Mozart: Symphony No. 36, "Linz" New York Philharmonic >> Archived Broadcast -- (The New York Philharmonic This Week,) >> More Info David Robertson, Conductor Gil Shaham, Violin” 1:39:54 PM 11/20/06 “I'm listening to laqtis' alter ego on YouTube tear it up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJTPXqaZjn0&mode=related&search=” 8:37:08 AM 11/21/06 “Screw the R.I.A.A.! That used to echo during the hay-days of Napster. Well, now they have tighten their choke-hold a little further. Basicly, they do not want people to know what is being played until it is being played or after the fact. Playlists used to be available well in advance. I guess they figure if people do not know what is coming, they will not be prepared to record it for whatever evil purpose they intend. Usually, for classical music, the play list was prepared somewhere in Iowa and was available through MPR(Minnesota Public Radio) and elsewhere. The same music was played across the country and, with few exceptions, was the music broadcast by most of the Public Broadcasting Stations. Now, I had trouble locating the list. WUOT(Univ. of Tennessee) used to have it available. Likewise, WQXR in New York made the list available. I found it at MPR. But, it cuts off at the current selection. You are not to know what will be played next. However, they still permit special events to have the selections identified in advance. Here is WUOT's program that has just started. I switched from WQXR to WUOT to listen to it: 8:00 DETROIT SYMPHONY ORCHESTRAWQXR is playing something different, as is MPR. I do enjoy listening to some of the other great performances, such as the New York Philharmonic, live on Thursday Evenings. Since not all selections are music to my ears, this has simply made life a little more difficult for me. It almost forces one to accept whatever is broadcast. It makes it unable to plan ahead to listen to some of the favorite selections that one might enjoy. It's all money. The R.I.A.A. wants all the money it can obtain. They should be able to work out a better agreement that would benefit the listening public. last edited: 11/21/06 7:53:50 PM” 7:47:35 PM 11/21/06 “zappa” 7:49:04 PM 11/21/06 “Donovan Frankenreiter, "Move By Yourself"” 9:29:03 PM 11/21/06 Things are better! “Wow! Things can change in a hurry. The old, WQXR program schedule has returned. Perhaps it was only a temporary problem with deciding what to play. My guess is that The New York Times, the station owner, put pressure on AOL to pay the bill to the RIAA. Today's Playlist: PLAYLIST Wednesday, November 22nd 2006 This one carrys all the way to midnight. The Thanksgiving Day Playlist has the New York Philharmonic loaded with some good selections starting at 9:05 PM EST: "Gershwin, George Gershwin: Strike Up the Band Overture; Rhapsody in Blue (with soloist Marcus Roberts); An American in Paris; Bernstein: Three Dance Episodes from "On the Town"; Copland: Lincoln Portrait (with narrator F Murray Abraham); Kernis: New Era Dance. Bramwell Tovey conducts." PLAYLIST Thursday, November 23rd 2006 This is as far as the Programming Schedule is available at this time. MPR has the schedule through Monday, November 27, 2006. So, perhaps the blockage was just a glitch. I seriously doubt it though, since the WQXR schedule was programmed to stop at the current selection being played. Seeing the schedules again does help restore my sanity. However, WMFE-FM.com, a local NPR station in Central Florida, is only showing program listings through yesterday. They switched to the limited schedule, a couple of years ago, when the RIAA was pushing hard for more money from the WEB Radio Stations. last edited: 11/22/06 4:17:01 PM” 4:09:50 PM 11/22/06 “We now have a locally owned and operated rock station. They actually return emails and seek input on their playlist and stream their live broadcast. http://www.spokanesriver.com” 5:10:27 PM 11/22/06 “Just a little while ago I was listening to 5-selections by Charles Edward Ives. The songs were composed from 1915 to 1919, and were played by the Orchestra of St Luke's.” 7:25:35 PM 11/23/06 “My new favorite band in the whole world...Nada Surf! On a scale of 1-10, they're 500 billion!! A few of their songs are posted on their MySpace page, that I'm listening to... http://www.myspace.com/nadasurf” 9:05:00 AM 11/28/06 “i just remember their video for "popular". it was hilarious and the cheerleaders were hot” 9:07:05 AM 11/28/06 “Yeah, I keep hearing about that one, but I don't remember it! I'll have to look it up... I guess that was their only "popular" song, haha.” 9:08:10 AM 11/28/06 “I like "Always Love" by Nada Surf. I wouldn't have thought Nada Surf to be gay enough for Lyra.” 9:09:29 AM 11/28/06 “Buffalo Tom - Big Red Letter Day” 9:14:57 AM 11/28/06 “Gay enough, LOL! Yeah they could be a little gayer I guess, but I like them anyway.” 9:18:19 AM 11/28/06 “Hee hee !! I've only heard "Always Love".......we got college radio here! >8^b” 9:24:20 AM 11/28/06 “The college music has got to be a real stand out and very different before I'll even give it a chance. So much of the music today is so vanilla and it's all the same IMHO. I shlt, I've become my dad! I've been listening to a lot of Nonpoint this week. I went and saw them live with Stone Sour, Flyleaf, and Disturbed. they only got to play about 25 minutes and their sound board sucked ass. I did pick up a great live CD/DVD pack for $10 though. Stone Sour was the big surprise. They were absolutely dead on. Disturbed was, well, Disturbed. I've seen them three times now so there were no surprises there. Nonpoint: Bullet With a Name” 9:35:58 AM 11/28/06 “Ratt -- "Round and Round"” 12:21:12 PM 11/28/06 Dropping back a few years... “Dio - Holy Diver The man has a great voice for rock. It's a concept album about a guy who is in a car accident and while he's laying in the hospital he spends 20 days talking and listening to all his emotions. Love Rage, Pain, ect. Each one of the emotions are sung by a different singer. It's great progressive metal but also has a heavy European sound with loots and flutes and strings also. The people they have singing is unbelievably good. James Labrie from Dream Theater, Eric Clayton from Savior Machine, Devin Townsend and the two unknown female singers are awesome. Video for Day 11: Love” 10:15:12 AM 12/14/06 “I put together a best of George Jones playlist today.
