Hits of the 60s

We begin with "Monday Monday" by the Mama's and the Papa's

Oh yeah, memories. . .

cool Tilt, i sooooo remember that song!

oh, i forgot to tell you, i have to stay awake, they are clearing off porches today. the rental office gave us notice on monday at 4pm that they were going to clear our porches for us yesterday if we did not. it's a rule that is not enforced for years, until suddenly, HUD inspectors show up. maintenance men are going around and clearing porches of those who do not comply, they throw stuff out, but keep for themselves what they like. yeah, it's theft, you should see their cars at the end of the day. apparently they've been doing this for days, a different street gets a half day's notice each day. i hate low income housing sometimes. i didn't know until monday at 4pm when the notice hit us, but a neighbor boy told us about it when he pulled the notice off our door and showed us. so Steve cleaned up the porch as best as he could, but we have a workbench and tools and lots of potted plants and the firepit and chairs and a table. we boxed up all of brians toys and threw out some stuff and all of the recyclables. it's amazing how much stuff you accumulate over the years when you are a large family in a two bedroom apt. sorry, running off at the mouth. been awake for far too long.

G** I am so tired, one shot of rum and I am freaking shot and my head hurts alsmost as much as my knee. i wsih one or morrre of you were here with me i am lonely, Steve is asleep again. I saw one of my neighbors comed home from night shift and told her that i stoplled them from stealing our neighbors stuff. They are keeping their shades and windows open and watching too. They have stuff on their porch, a swing and lots of flower, plants, a whole garden and a table and stuff.

strange fire just played now and it really works for me. now crazy game is playing and it's a replay of course and i am ling it too

noise on the npporch is just a water bottle falling over. i brought in this mornings coffee cups. i might put a thermorest out and sleep out ther for a nap.

stupid thing is, the whole fight that i entered the planning board race for last year was the HUD thing. they said they were loosing HUD funding and wanted to knock these places down and rebuild, but all the nimby's said they didn't want anything built here at all, they wanted it to stay the same.

song now is: Walk Away

song is "Hey Jesus"

anyone else have this album? i'm a Christian, so it's kind of irrevevenat, oh hell i can't spell right now. but you know what, i betch God totally gets it, Jesus afterall was fully human. i know i do, it strikes a chord fo rme and i am smiling and crying at the same time. i wish you were here in my lvingroom. of course it's a mess and i would be so embarrassed.

here are the lyrics in caase you don't know it:

Hey, jesus, it's me.
i don't usually talk to you
but my baby's gonna leave me,
and there's something you must do.
i am not your faithful servant,
i hang around sometimes with a bunch of your black sheep,
but if you make my baby stay,
i'll make it up to you
and that's a promise i will keep,
hey, jesus, it's me.
i'm the one who talked to you yesterday
and i asked you please,
please for a favor
but my baby's gone away,
went away anyway
and i don't really think it's fair,
you've got the power to make us all believe in you and then we call you in our despair, and you don't come through.
hey, jesus, it's me,
i'm sorry. i don't remember all i said,
i had a few, no, too many and they went straight to my head,
made me feel like i could argue with god but you know,
it's easy for you,
you got friends all over the world,
you had the whole world waiting for your birth but now i ain't got nobody,
i don't know what my life's worth.
i'm not gonna call on you any more.
i'm sure you've got a million things to do, all i was
trying to do was to get through to you,
get through to you because when i die and i get up to your doors i don't even know if you're gonna let me in the place,
how come i gotta die to get a change to talk to you face to face?

this afternoon i am listening to the soundtrack from

"O Brother Where Art Thou?

what an awesome bunch of songs! The harmonies, the acapellas. simply amazing. i love hillbilly music!

A "Man Of Constant Sorrow" is my favorite on here I think, "The Soggy Bottom Boys" are super. The words to "Big Rock Candy Mountain" really crack me up, have any of you really listened to that? Who here saw the movie? Remember the women by the river? Or those cute little girls in white dresses who sang so incredibly? I have to see this again.

Pammie is "Keeping on the Sunnyside"!

I was brought up on Burl Ives' version of "Big Rock Candy Mountain". Imagine my surprise the first time I saw "Cat On A Hot Tin Roof".

Oh, and the guy who sang lead on "Man Of Constant Sorrow" (Dan Tyminski )is the flatpicking guitarist in Allison Krauss' band.

Motherly love
Motherly love
Forget about
The brotherly and other-ly love
Motherly love
Is just the thing for you
You know your Mothers' gonna love ya
Till ya don't know what to do

The Mothers got love
That'll drive ya mad
They're ravin' 'bout the way we do
No need to feel lonely...
No need to feel sad,
If we ever get a hold on you
What you need is...

Motherly love
(Come on get it now)
Motherly love
Forget about
The brotherly and other-ly love
Motherly love
Is just the thing for you
You know your Mothers' gonna love ya
Till ya don't know what to do

Nature's been good
To this here band
Don't ever think we're shy
Send us up some little groupies
And we'll take their hands
And rock 'em till they sweat and cry
What you need is...

Motherly love
(Get it now)
Motherly love
Forget about
The brotherly and other-ly love
Motherly love
Is just the thing for you
You know your Mothers' gonna love ya
Till ya don't know what to do
We can love ya
Till ya have a heart attack
You'd best believe that's true
We'll bite your neck
And scratch your back
Till you don't know what to do
What you need is...

Motherly love
Motherly love
Forget about
The brotherly and other-ly love
Motherly love
Is just the thing for you
You know your Mothers' gonna love ya
Till ya don't know what to do

You know I've got a little Motherly love for you baby
You know I've got a little Motherly love for you honey
You know it doesn't bother me at all
That you're only 18 years old
'Cause I got a little Motherly love for you baby
Pow pow pow pow

Artist: The Youngbloods
Song: Let's Get Together

Love is but the song we sing,
And fear's the way we die
You can make the mountains ring
Or make the angels cry
Know the dove is on the wing
And you need not know why

C'mon people now,
Smile on your brother
Ev'rybody get together
Try and love one another right now

Some will come and some will go
We shall surely pass
When the one that left us here
Returns for us at last
We are but a moments sunlight
Fading in the grass

C'mon people now,
Smile on your brother
Ev'rybody get together
Try and love one another right now

If you hear the song I sing,
You must understand
You hold the key to love and fear
All in your trembling hand
Just one key unlocks them both
It's there at your command

C'mon people now,
Smile on your brother
Ev'rybody get together
Try and love one another right now
Right now
Right now!

Well we know where we're going
But we don't know where we've been
And we know what we're knowing
But we can't say what we've seen
And we're not little children
And we know what we want
And the future is certain
Give us time to work it out

Yeeeeeeeah....

We're on a road to nowhere
Come on inside
Taking that ride to nowhere
We'll take that ride

I'm feeling okay this morning
And you know
We're on the road to paradise
Here we go, here we go

We're on a ride to nowhere
Come on inside
Taking that ride to nowhere
We'll take that ride

Maybe you wonder where you are
I don't care
Here is where time is on our side
Take you there, take you there

We're on a road to nowhere (ha! ha!)
We're on a road to nowhere (ha! ha!)
We're on a road to nowhere (ha! ha!)

There's a city in my mind
Come along and take that ride
And it's all right, baby, it's all right

And it's very far away
But it's growing day by day
And it's all right, baby, it's all right

Would you like to come along
You can help me sing this song
And it's all right, baby, it's all right

They can tell you what to do
But they'll make a fool of you
And it's all right, baby, it's all right

There's a city in my mind
Come along and take that ride
And it's all right, baby, it's all right

And it's very far away
But it's growing day by day
And it's all right, baby, it's all right

And would you like to come along
You can help me sing this song
And it's all right, baby, it's all right

They can tell you what to do
But they'll make a fool of you
And it's all right, baby, it's all right

We're on a road to nowhere (heugh!)

Time was once just a clock to me
and life was just a book a biography
Success was something you just had to be
and I would spend myself unknowingly

And you know that I could have me a million more friends
and all I'd have to lose is my point of view
But I never knew what a good time would cost
'til last night when I sat and talked with you

An apple will spoil if it's been abused
A candle disappears when its been used
A rainbow may follow up a hurricane
And I can't leave forever on a train

And you know that I'd survive if I never spoke again
and all I'd have to lose is my vanity
But I never knew what a good time would cost
'til last night when you sat and talked with me

[inst. break]

You can smile for the lack of something else to do
and no one will laugh and point at you
If your tears didn't always make me feel so bad
would you still cry every time that you felt sad?

I thought I'd heard and seen enough to get along
'til you said something neither of us knew
And I never knew what a good time would cost
'til last night when I sat and talked with you

No I never knew what a good time would cost
'til last night when you sat and talked with me
