God Bless America
It didn’t take long for the flash of Patriotism to evaporate from the spectra of the left wing. It didn’t take long for the liberal whiners to crawl out of their hidey-holes to renew their crusade as anti-heroes and critics of everything that has made this country great. Mike Spann, who gave his life in defense of these pathetic wimps, has been targeted as symbol of bureaucratic evil. A man, who sacrificed all, has become just another pawn of these selfish cowards. This simpering horde who cowers behind the security of the United States taking pot shots at brave men willing to stand and fight.

Two months ago these NRA opponents were out pricing shotguns. Demanding the government rain nuclear terror on the rest of the world. Cowering behind their own shame and fear as they rushed to purchase gas masks and survival gear. Well now that President Bush and brave men like Mike Spann have taken the fight back to the enemy, the whimpering cry to undermine American values begins anew.

Imagined evil acts become a false reality in their twisted minds. They continue to pull the United States down to a level that they feel comfortable at. Unable to prosper in a country with the greatest opportunity they prop themselves up by dragging others down with them. Narrow references to irrelevant statistics are proclaimed as new evidence that the United States is second rate. The measuring stick for greatness is an imagined utopia that exists only in the fairy tale minds of these simpletons. They live life in the very bosom of harmony and prosperity, but are somehow able to ignore all of the things that make this country great.

The suggestion that the rest of the world looks upon us with disfavor, because of who we are is bullsh!t. I know who I am. I am not ashamed of who I am. The perception that people don’t like us, because we have done something wrong is ridiculous. We have not excluded the world from our prosperity and greatness. We have a long history of sharing and offering opportunity to people from every country, faith and background.

Somehow these stormy weather patriots find a way to blame every injustice in the world on the United States. “We stole their oil.” “We supported a regime that was overthrown and replaced by a worse regime.” “We have too much and should feel guilty.” “We meddled where we shouldn’t” “We didn’t meddle where we should.” The ridiculousness of these charges is perverse, yet by repeating them enough they somehow gain credibility.

The United States of America didn’t become the greatest Country in the history of the World by whining and complaining. If these ideological cretins had any self-respect they wouldn’t be propping themselves up by tearing others down. They would vote, talk to their elected representatives, involve themselves in the political process beyond whining and complaining. They would take advantage of the vast opportunities available instead of stagnating behind every obstacle of life.

It is time for these stormy weather patriots to take down that tattered, made in China, flag off their antenna and do something real. How bout a trip to the USO? Seek out members of our Armed forces to say thanks send a card of sympathy and support to the family of Mike Spann. I don’t expect to change people’s minds that are predisposed to negativity. I just want to stand up and say, The United States is the greatest Country in the history of the World in spite of these self-imported chronic complainers.

I recall refuting the suggestion of a long drawn out war with someone on this site. I was in complete denial.

My son had recently joined the Marine Corps and I could not bear the thought of my baby in combat. I have since come to terms with the reality that my son is a warrior and much tougher than the old man. My apologies to Artex or whoever I was arguing with. You were right.

"This Ain't No Rag It's A Flag",

I'll let you all decide for yourselves:

This ain't no rag it's a flag and we don't wear it on our heads
It's a symbol of the land where the good guys live
Are you listening to what I said?
You're a coward and a fool and you broke all the rules
and you wounded our American pride
Now we're coming with a gun and we know you're gonna run
but you can't find no place to hide
We're gonna hunt you down like a mad dog hound
and make you pay for the lives you stole
We're all through talking and messing around and now it's time to
rock
and
roll
These colors don't run and we're speaking as one when we say
united
we
stand
If you mess with one you mess with us all every boy, girl, woman
and
man
You've been acting mighty rash and talking that trash
but let me give you some advice
You can crawl back in your hole like a dirty little mole
but now it's time to pay the price
You might have shot us in the back
but now you have to face the fact
that the big boy's in the game
The lightning's been flashing and the thunder's been crashing
and now it's gettin ready to rain Chorus:
This is the United States of America the land of the brave and
free
We believe in God, we believe in justice, we believe in liberty
You've been pulling our chain, we shoulda done something about you
a
long
time ago
But now the flag's flying high and the fur's gonna fly
and now the whole world's gonna know
This ain't no rag it's a flag old glory red white and blue
The stars and stripes and when it comes to a fight we can do what
we
have
to
do
Our people stand proud the American crowd is faithful and loyal
And tough
We're as good as the best and better than the rest
you're gonna find out soon enough
When you look up in the sky and you see the eagle fly
you'd better know he's headed your way
This ain't no rag it's a flag and it stands for the USA

LOL! I can't believe the crap I have to read on TT anymore. Bacpac is living proof of the old adage,

"Patriotism is the the last refuge of a scoundrel."

Next he be telling us, "Amerika, love it or leave it." Sounds like Ashcroft yesterday in front of that House committee. Basically Ashcroft said that by questioning the administration's policies on terrorism, military tribunals, the PATRIOT Act, etc. you were being disloyal to your country.

I would put forth that questioning everything this administration and country does is the most patriotic thing an American can do.

Take that Bacpac!

Hey, good to see ya back here bacpac. I agree with you 100% that the time for action is now. Weather you agree with our actions or not we should do what we can to support the individuals involved with this conflict. I do think we will not be weaker for the fualse patriots inaction because it’s always been the real Americans carrying the rest as you pointed out.

As you said, G-d bless America.

I agree with you 100% bacpac and Nigal. Now is the time for this country to stand and say "NO!" you will NOT do this to us. You will NOT make us live our lives in fear of terrorist attacks, you will NOT make us bow to you or hide in the shadows. You will pay for what you have done in the worst way. Folks, if you can't support the people who are putting their lives on the line so we can take advantage of everything this country has to offer, I feel very sorry for you. I also think it would be a good idea if you tried to appreciate the difficult decisions made during this time with one goal in mind...to keep freedom and prosperity alive in the greatest country that has ever been or ever will be. Is "Thank you" so very hard for you to say??

bpbaby, you go girl...it doesn't matter if you agree or not...we all find ourselves supporting things with which we do not agree as a result of being on a 'team'; take work for an example...not every decision made suits us, but once the decision is made, it's time to get on board and pull together to see it happen...in this particular instance, many people are putting their lives on the line to protect basic freedoms, and as a veteran, I know a LOT about the sacrifices that are being made...and I say "THANK YOU" to the men and women who are serving.

Gear Slut would you like God to stop blessing America? Would that be better? Maybe a really nice long drought and a few earthquakes that'll make CA fall off into the ocean? Soil as dry and barren as bones and not enough food? I personally pray that we will continue to be blessed and that those who serve for our protection will be kept safe while keeping us safe! It's been along time since I've said it but it needs to be said, YOU are a jack@ss!

When Bacpac spoke at the very beginning of this thread about what makes this country great, what did you think of?

One of the things I cherish the most about this country is FREEDOM. Freedom for all, not just for those who think like I do.

The principle that dissent is an acceptable and valued part of our democracy must be constantly defended. To question one's patriotism because they disagree with a policy of the government is ludicrous.

No matter what one's political beliefs, it is crucial that we stay true to the values that this country was founded upon.

mike spann did not die and our armed forces are not fighting for our right to all think alike and have the same thoughts. they are fighting for our right to disagree with one another and to express ourselves. bacpac, i wouldn't want a USA that thought entirely the way you do, or they way spock, solitary hiker, myself or kleetn does. the second our thoughts lose diversity, dissolve and fall into line, is the second the true essence of the USA dies. what makes the USA awesome? it's not because we are all waving flags and acting patriotic. The USA is awesome because we have a place where we all can disagree peacefully.
