“It didn’t take long for the flash of Patriotism to evaporate from the spectra of the RIGHT wing. The terrorist-supporting NRA has their puppet Bush protecting the rights of gun owners rather than fighting terrorism. The Bush administration has said it would do everything to fight terrorism, which includes unconstitutionally detaining hundreds of people who have done nothing. Yet when pressed to do background checks to see if so-called terrorists have purchased guns, Bush bows to the NRA who oppose this measure. The NRA in effect is protecting terrorists who purchase guns in the USA. Bush is a hypocrite when it comes to fighting terrorism.

What is Bush doing about the homegrown Right-wing terrorism plaguing the country? It's fairly evident that the Anthrax terrorist scare is the work of the right-wing republicans. Why isn't the Bush administration rounding up hundreds of right-wing republicans for suspicion the same as Muslims in the USA? Why doesn't Bush crack down on radical dangerous right-wing abortion opponents and save the USA from their terrorist abortion clinic bombings and threats?
Why Mr. Bush are you such a hypocrite? Why aren't you fighting the real threat to the USA... domestic terrorists like the NRA and right-wing extremists. Every day we see news coverage of NRA members killing their families and co-workers, most recently in Goshen, IN.

who fought and died for what they believed in, but also for you, the readers of this letter? To put it another way, why does the media consistently refuse to
acknowledge that I speak from experience? I've never gotten a clear and honest answer to that question from thebacpac. But what is clear is that if one dares
to criticize even a single tenet of its credos, one is promptly condemned as uneducated, self-satisfied, ethically bankrupt, or whatever epithet it deems most
appropriate, usually without much explanation. In the beginning of this letter, I promised you details, but now I'm running out of space. So here's one detail to

When asked why the info wasn't being used to check for possible terrorists, Ashcroft said it was because of the way it was set up in the law. When asked if the law couldn't be changed to allow for this, he had no answer.

WASHINGTON - The 10-year-old ban on the sale and manufacture of some assault weapons — a law once supported by President Bush — will likely end in September, largely because the White House did not lobby Congress to keep the law in place.

The administration has sent mixed signals about its support for the law, amid election year pressure by the National Rifle Association to do nothing.

As a result, Americans this fall will be able to again legally make and buy rifles such as the Colt AR-15, Steyr AUG, and the Beretta Ar70 and SC-70.

Bush said he backed extension of the assault weapons ban during his 2000 presidential campaign. The White House says his position has not changed, but the administration did not ask the House for a vote to send a bill to his desk.

"They knew not to because the votes are not there," said House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Sugar Land.

Most Republican congressional leaders are adamantly opposed to extension of the gun control law that bans the manufacture and sale of 19 types of semiautomatic weapons and ammunition clips of more than 10 rounds.

In the Senate, where there is majority support to renew the law, sponsors are running out of time. There are only a few legislative days remaining before the Sept. 13 expiration date, and the Republican leadership has filled the calendar with other items.

The Senate’s lead proponent of the assault weapons ban, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., has vowed to attach a weapons ban extension to another "must-pass" bill that is a high priority for Bush. That would force the administration to weigh in on the issue, an aide said.

"It’s hard for me to understand why the president won’t act," Feinstein said. "We know that there are shiploads of guns waiting to come into this country and be sold.
