Just one place comes to mind.
If I had to pick one place to backpack that I would have to backpack for the rest of my days it would have to be Baxter State Park.I have never been there before but I have see so many cool pictures and herd so many good things about it.I wish I could move to Maine ya know the clean air clean everything.....Where I live it sucks the air is bad there are 5 steel mills in my area and plus I live right by Gary.Well any way has anyone here in the TT ever gone backpacking there and if so whats it like?It has been on my wish list for some time to go backpacking is such a cool place.

happy hiking

ILB: We are serious. This is how it happens. I know chili36 pretty well.. would gladly carry his pack for him if he got hurt.. he mentioned TX.. and I got interested.. my history with skully is identical.. would gladly go rescue her anywhere.. any time.

Yeah, but it's a weeklong trip. One thing, do we have a vehicle with enough room for all our gear?

I would have to pick the Sierras. The Eastern Sierra has the majestic views and the Western Sierra has the forests and places like Yosemite...don't get me started.

TD, if you don't get the Expedition, I will rent a van,,,through corporate, I can get a really good weeklong deal......
chili36

that might be our best bet.. split the rental cost.

can we get free mileage?
TownDawg

I will check the rate, but all of our rentals are unlimited mileage.

If you can get to Kentucky or Tennessee, you could leave your car at someone's house and ride the rest of the way. I've heard a lot about this park, don't pass up a chance to hike it unless you have no other choice!

The Adirondacks of NY has everything I'd ever need in a hiking area (in the Eastern US, of course), and you could prolly hike there the rest of your life and not hike the same trail twice.

If I had to stay in one location for the rest of my life it would have to be the Adirondacks. There are some many trails so little time. The Adirondacks are where I did my first true backpacking trip. Going back there is like going to visit an old friend. I get so excited after I pass over the park border!!!
