Columbia “I was just wandering, is Columbia a good brand of clothes for backpacking in the snow around Tennessee and North Carolina? I was wanting to know because I'm about to buy an Ogden Lake jacket made by Columbia.” 7:22:10 PM 12/09/01 “Good for sking. I have a rain/wind jacket from Columbia, it's good enough. Haven't worn any Columbia stuff out yet; have a parka that's nigh unto ten years old. Ugly as sin though.” 8:45:41 PM 12/09/01 “I have a good amount of Columbia clothes. It has proven durable so far. I don't know if could hold up to the onslaught that LSU sent Tennessee's way though. Have fun..... meet towndawg.” 9:12:33 PM 12/09/01 “Columbia's quality just keeps improving and is comparable to more expensive brands of outdoor clothing (imo), I keep likeing what I see wrt their gear.” 9:23:26 PM 12/09/01 “...and I like what I see wrt the price tag.” 9:24:23 PM 12/09/01 “Oh man! I picked up a couple mock turtlenecks made out of their micro-fleece and let me tell you, it's the bomb baby! It is so thin, stretches in all four directions, and is soft as creamy butter. I hiked in a 45 degree drizzle with this shirt and a cheap fleece vest and stayed nice and warm and the micro fleece kept most of the moisture (rain and sweat) on top of the shirt rather than next to me. Most fleece shirts are too thick, bulky and warm for me to wear while hiking but this shirt is just right. [end of plug]” 11:14:53 PM 12/09/01 “I have a lightweight fleece pullover by them and it rocks.” 8:05:04 AM 12/10/01 “I know a babe named "Columbia".” 9:05:17 AM 12/10/01 “Is she good for backpacking in the snow around Tennessee and North Carolina?” 9:18:13 AM 12/10/01 “They make nice summer clothing (ie, nylon pants and shorts) and they make some decent winter skiing type of clothing. I don't think I would use their waterproof stuff for backpacking as it looks heavy and bulky.” 11:41:35 AM 12/10/01 “i agree, GS. the "waterproof" stuff is crap.” 11:47:08 AM 12/10/01 “Their raingear looks too heavy. I have several pairs of ripstop shorts that I've slid around on my butt a bunch in and they are holding up well. I also have a pair of lightweight nylon bping pants that have nice cargo pockets and such that I use on a regular basis, year-round. They are holding up well and I only paid $10 for 'em thru Campmor. If they get a rip, I just seal the hole with some seam grip or shoe goo. They're still going strong.” 12:11:36 PM 12/10/01 “I appreciate all that advice. I probably won't be hiking in too cold of weather anyway.” 3:33:40 PM 12/10/01
