"http://" isn't required when doing HTML anywhere else, and I've never used it here on TT. Just suddenly started happening over the last 2 days.

I'll try it here myself, but even if it works it still shouldn't be necessary.

Yet Another Symbol Test ---

NOTATION:

In order to succeed in this class, you must become fluent in the language and notation of mathematics. You should be familiar with all of the following:

Logical AND
 ….. Logical OR (Inclusive: one, or the other, or both)
….. Logical NOT. Some texts use the tilde character ~ for this instead, or
put a bar over the character.
Logical EXCLUSIVE-OR (one or the other, but not both). Sometimes
written XOR.
 …. Implication, "if-then"
 …. Bidirectional (mutual) implication: Each implies the other; If and only
if.
 … Therefore
iff ….. If and only if
Pf. …. Proof
Def. … Definition
Hyp. … Hypothesis
Con. … Conclusion
QED … Latin, Quod Est Demonstrandum. "Which was to be demonstrated."
Loosely translated, "The proof is complete." You don't need to know
the Latin, you do need to know that this marks the end of a proof.
 …… Greek letter Delta. Used to indicate a small value or small change in
some variable. Rarely used in discrete mathematics, quite common
in calculus.
 …… Greek letter Sigma, stands for Summation. Add all terms.
 …… Greek letter Pi (capital), stands for Product. Multiply all terms.
 ……. Greek letter Pi (lower-case). 3.1415926......
{} …. The null (empty) set. N. B.: {}denotes a set containing the empty
set, NOT the empty set itself!
 ……. Set intersection: The set of all members common to two (or more)
sets, that is, present in both (all) sets.
 ……. Set union. The set of all members present in any of two (or more)
sets.
 ……. Subset. A  B is read "A is a subset of B." A may or may not equal
B in this case.
 ……. Proper Subset. A  B denotes that A is a subset of B and A  B.
 ……. Is an element of (a given set).
 ……. Is not an element of (a given set).
 ……. For all. This is called the universal quantifier (it asserts that
something is true for all elements of the universal set).
 …….. For some, or "there exists." This is called the existence quantifier.
! …….. For one, or "there exists a unique..."
N ……. The "natural" numbers: {1, 2, 3, ...}. Note: Some authors include 0
in this set.
Z ……. The set of integers: {0,  1,  2,  3,...}
Z+ ….. The set of non-negative integers: {0, 1, 2, 3...}
R …… The set of real numbers.
Q …… The set of rational numbers.
  ... Is equivalent to
 …. Is approximately equal to

█ - 'black box'…. Used to indicate the end of a proof.

I don't have it in this character set, but you will sometimes see an equals sign with a small triangle above it. This means "Is defined as."

Other miscellaneous abbreviations.

e.g. … For example (exempli gratia)
i.e. …. That is (id est)
N.B. .. Note well. (Nota Bene)
q.v. … See also (quod vide – "see which")
s.t. …. such that
w.r.t.… with respect to

Hmmmmmmmmmm. On my home computer there appeared to be a reset to left justification of text, when a new post would be inserted. On this, my daughters computer, it has not reset.
So,
I have now reset it.

Another experiment at home. It appears to be browser dependent. IE requires the reset, but Netscape does not.

(The default for text is left justification.)

Make sure its the URL of the photo and not of the webpage. Otherwise you get a red box! :)
