Jane, you ignorant slut!

I put the picture at tinypic like I was supposed to. Then I copied the TAG line and posted it.

Someone please tell me how to properly put in the width command.

Well, I've figured this out.

Now Ruby, to your question, how do we limit the pic width?

Ruby

I've got another picture to try.

It's 1278 x 959

I'm pretty sure I have to do something about that.

But how?
Ruby

Ruby, Ruby, Rube

I don't have much more clue than you with this stuff. I saw instruction on limiting the pic with somewhere, but tonight I can not recall where?

I'm too tired to finish this tonight. Going to bed.

Thanks, Hubcap.

Ewker, be ready with your h's tomorrow. :)

See The Image Tag and the Src Attribute near the top of this page,
HTML Images.

Adjust images to different sizes
If only the width or only the height is specified, the other will be adjusted to keep the same height to width ratio.

if you delete the pic from whereever its stored, or rename it, the big pic will go away.

Roam, what do you mean by that?
Ruby
9:34:40 AM
8/28/04

ruby, just add

width="300"

directly after your picture url.

like this:

(img src="/images/hackanm.gif"
width="70")

no more blow-ups.

Thank you, Sacco.

Now one more question. How do I determine what the width should be? Is that arbitrary? How is it related to the source photo's dimensions? For example, the pic I was going to test with is 1278x959.
Ruby

And to all you guys who have been patiently helping me, I'll buy you a beer some day when we hike together. (I better make a list)
Ruby
10:16:56 AM
8/28/04

Ruby
Just that if you've blown out the page and you wanna get rid of the pic, you can go back to whereever you uploaded and saved the source image (like in photobucket) and either delete or rename the source image.

Since the html code on this site refers to a specific filename - it'll return the little red x instead of the giant image.

THen you can redo the html to display the image with the command

width="400" included so you don't blow out the page with the new renamed image.

m'kay?

lol
Roam Around

the width code is arbitrary - you can specify a height too, but theres no need.

Most browsers will keep the height proportional to the width.

300 or 400 is a good size for the layout of the TT pages.

the number refers to pixels btw.

so 400 means there are 400 pixels in the width of the displayed image.

One more question:

I want to go back and delete the source image at TinyPic.com that caused a blow-out. How do I do that? I went to that site and can't figure it out.

Maybe I'm trying to learn too much in one day. lol ;)

Oh yeah, I had no idea I could blow the picture up. I thought the width and height functions were just to reserve the page space during loading so the page wasn't constantly changing size and shape while everything loaded.
