It's Official, I'm Disabled.

Also, I've made it to Trail Days the past two years. Last November my knees went out completely and I was on crutches for two months. They have not recovered much, so I could be headed for surgery. I just finished four months, mostly car camping in GSMNP.

“Thanks for the updates! I wish you well on the knee surgery. My dad had one replaced in November and is anxious to get the other one done in January. I'm anxious for him to get it done as well so he can get back out on the trail!

Hope life is treating you well. That sounds great that your father can return to the trail after knee surgery. I was told that I would likely have to give it up.

“:-( Don't throw in the towel yet NS. Dad is a day hiker and we go slow and easy (I LOVE HIKING WITH HIM!) He is 66 and has lots of miles on him yet.

I have a new job. I work for the Better Business Bureau and like it much better than insurance. At the moment I have the best view in Asheville looking north from a 16 floor building. However that will change this month as we are moving.

I've become active in a photography group at church and am really enjoying that. I'm learning more and my passion is growing.

My step dad passed away a few weeks ago so I've been running the road from here to N. GA helping my mom.

My hikes aren't as frequent as I like and I'm mainly day hiking still...which is ok.

Has anyone ever tried to decorate their Waldies? I'm wondering if stickers would adhere or if you could use paints of some sort....hmmmm???”
