Baxter Park - Maine

“I'm a 55 year old Maine Man that loves backpacking near Katahdin in Baxter State Park. I will be making reservations in Baxter for July and August in advance for 4 or 5 days hiking trips. I have to pay for two minimum in advance anyways so though I could find a nice lady before June then so we could get to know one another and maybe plan on the trip together. The area I would like to go into would be Russell Pond and then over to Wessataquoik Island for a couple of days. I probably won't receive many replies but it's nice to talk about anyways. “I'm going to mail in reservations this year. One of the things I want to do is the last 15 miles of the AT, but I also want to re-visit the Knife's edge and do some other hiking. Does anyone have any advice on mail in reservation strategies?”

Seriously, mail your forms in December 26. Make one choice for each trip (date, campground, etc) and ask for the clerk to call you if what you want is not available.

Believe it or not, we are all good people. Without a doubt that this is the best hiking board anywhere to be found on the net. This is a close-knit group of folks who would gladly do anything for anyone.

Sometimes, perhaps we come off as flippant, but there is a tremendous amount of talent here. There is a lot of history here. Some of us have known each other for years. We are all serious hikers/backpackers.

I hope you will find it in your heart to realize this is just a way of making some long days at work seem a little better at times. If the way we poked fun hit you wrong, then I know I speak for everyone when I say we apologize sincerely.
