Never used it, never wanted to. Don't think I'm missing anything.

I found out by getting a job where they smoked on the job. Every time they dissappeared and I smelled something odd I got sick. We put two and two together.

Bourbon and never (anymore) the cheap stuff or overadvertised red wax silliness. Give me Blantons single barrel, Woodford Reserve, or if you can find it Pappy Vanwinkle family reserve (20 yrs) and about $50 a bottle. If you can't enjoy it with water, its bad bourbon. Don't even get me on the soap box about W Turkey, PU.

Big concerts were sometimes rough for me. I usually went to small gigs and could easily avoid the crap.

Hey wolfsister;
Ya want something reaaly good, try truffle honey. It's top grade honey with white truffle oil added. Dear god is it wonderful! Funny thing is I'm the only one in my family who likes truffles. Oh, darn, more for me!

I don't typically associate the trail with intoxication - which apparently is an uncommon view. Any other trail teetotalers out there? Did I just lose a bunch of potential trail partners?

I'll have a drink or two here at home but tend to enjoy keeping my wits about me outdoors.

Yeah, HPM only talks about having a drink. He can't even finish a glass of wine and he stops 'cause he feelf loopy. I won't drink while 'packing, and I very rarely drink anyhoo.

ok, this is as good a thread as any....

-i don't like dogs on the trail.
-i can't stand cigarette smoke.
-i don't like it when people plan on eating up miles, on a group hike.
-i don't have campfires while backpacking.

but, if i want to hike with some great people, i need to leave this sh!t at the door.

that's the first thing that you'll learn on an ECT hike.

This is as good as place as any to expose my lack of knowledge. What does "ECT" mean? I was thinking "East Coast Trail" for a while but clearly that's not correct since there are other ECT hikes in the Ozarks ect...

Rad - I agree - when hiking with big groups one needs to be flexible.

Truffle oil and honey? hmmmm...

For a moment there I thought somebody said they were allergic to CHOCOLATE. To hell with THAT! Next incarnation please, LOL!

Oh, and I'm not talking
intoxication, per se... just enough to let you know where your lips are chapped. I've seen enough people fall into campfires, twenty years ago.

it originally stood for 'east coast trip.'

now, it is usually used for 'east coast trekkers', tho.

'east coast trippers'? far out, man!

I have a few swigs to celebrate, but I don't like to get loopy on the trail. It actually doesn't keep you warm, makes you more cold by thinning your blood.
Nice to have some whiskey when skiing or hiking in cold weather to fool one's self - hee hee!

I am not against having a shot or two on the trail, but I certainly wouldn't describe any of the trail trips I have been on as a "party". Hiking with a 35# pack is hard enough without suffering from a hangover.

I always take some Grand Marnier & Khalua, for the coffee. And sometimes, a bit of Crown Royal. I hate drinking it from a plastic bottle, but one must make sacrifices... He He
