first, rich b., what model do you have?

in looking at the akto, i like it for the most part. my only concern is that with one pole in the center, if it were to snow, the weight of the snow would cause the tent to droop into my head and foot space. it looks as though there is not a whole lot of clearance in these areas already. how about condesation on the akto? they say it is for all seasons. does anyone have any experience with this tent in the snow?

Baume, see if you can get hold of Mnutz. He has one.

baume - From what I have heard, one of the drawbacks to the Akto is that the guy lines on the ends of the tent require a lot of room to be guyed out. I think that is what will prevent the tent from drooping on your head, though. This tent does not have a top vent, on vents on the ends. There will be condensation, but the book on it sez that you can keep it at a managable level. I (my wife)have ordered this tent and will be opening it up and get it into the yard Christmas day. I just hope we gets some snow!!

Baume, I have the Nallo 2 and I bought it for solo use because I like more room than a solo tent has. The tent is still a very compact package and about 5 pounds total. I ordered mine with 9.5 mm poles. Standard is 8.6mm and I heard they have 11mm for heavier snow loads. If I did it over again I'd probably just get the standard poles since I usually get out and clean heavy snows off my tents in storms.
With the Akto having one pole instead of the Nallo's two poles, it may be wise to go with a thicker pole if you don't brush heavy wet snows off the tent. Dry snow would just slide off. Hilleberg is great for feedback and will advise you on which pole would be better for your needs.
Mnutz can answer questions about the Akto better than me since he has that model.
