And Their Families
Massacred In Tora Bora

TORA BORA (PNS) - While the operation against the al Qaida members in the snow-clad Tora Bora peaks and caves entered in to its second phase following the intense bombing by the US planes during the last several days, the forces of commander Hazrat Ali in Tora Bora have massacred brutally around two hundred alleged al Qaida members along with their family members in last week.

A local fighter associated with Hazrat Ali forces in Tora Bora told The Frontier Post on condition of anonymity on Wednesday, " last week a representative of around two hundred alleged al Qaida people had made a wireless contact with commander Haji Zaman and offered to surrender on conditions of safety of life which was excepted by Haji Zaman".

An eyewitness fighter named Gul Khan who claimed to have been to the scene also confirmed this. He said that they had told Haji Zaman that they were ready to fight and sacrifice their lives along with the family members while fighting against the US Special Forces but were ready to surrender before Zaman forces and the agreement was reached.But he said the agreement was sabotaged by the commander Hazrat Ali who killed all of them along with women and children in the Tora Bora mountain bodies of which are still lying there in the open sky.

Other sources in Tora Bora also confirmed killing of at least 30 fighters from Hazrat Ali group during gun battle with the al Qaida fighters. Sources said that the three bodies were brought to a clinic of ICRC in Jalalabad while the other 27 bodies were still lying in the Tora Bora outskirts.

Sources said that the number of alleged al Qaida members arrested from the Tora Bora mountains have risen 33 following the arrest of 11 more persons from Tora Bora on Tuesday. Haji Zaheer had earlier told the International media on Monday that their forces have arrested 22 alleged al Qaida members and nine Afghans.

Sources said that the actual al Qaida people had disappeared in caves of Tora Bora many many days ago. Haroon, a student medical science in Jalalabad, told The Frontier Post, " all those Arab who were living in Jalalabad were not necessarily members of so called al Qaida because many of them came to Afghanistan to live in a Islamic system established by the Taliban and nobody in Afghanistan knew about al Qaida before it was popularised throughb Media".

On the other hand local commander sources said that the political differences among the forces of Governor Haji Qadeer, Haji Zaman and commander Hazrat Ali have become very tension rid and Nanangarhar province is fast heading toward a situation which could bring the Jalalabad city at the verge of infighting among above groups.

While the latest reports in Tora Bora was that the US and British special forces were now continuing their search for the suspected al Qaida members in the caves and peaks of the Tora Bora area along with local fighters with no bombing by the US planes for the last over 40 hours. Whereabouts of Osama Bin Ladin were still not known.”
