The thought occurred to me, right before I gave it up and went to bed for the night.. that most of us are not really much like our posts.. some of you I know of course.. and I find that if the only information I had was what we typed here.. what a twisted view I would have of you.

I am glad that I have had the chance to see more than the shallowness of your words here might imply sometimes.

So I guess, um...we're supposed to take it on faith that you're not the shallow, silly, attention-loving pedophile that you seem to be if judged purely by what you type on TT?

Yep! I don't know about some of you Internet Backpackers. Some are just like their posts --- some are totally different. Fairly bizarre...

Everyone gets that 'picture' in their head. How close to reality is it, really? Personally. I think reality is over-rated, *G*.

it is a comfort to know that our thoughts, opinions, judgements and beliefs about people, places and things usually have nothing to do with truth or "what is".
Can we claim to know anything or speak with knowledge and truth of a person, place or thing until we have had a direct experience with them?

just a thought and a few keystrokes....

TownDawg,

I must have been up too late last night. I regret, and apologize for, my "joke" about you being a pedophile. I have no problem with jokes about being attracted to too-young girls, but the term pedophile takes that to a level that isn't at all funny.

Also...you were making a (mostly) serious point that I think is valid. I think so based on statements I've read here from TT'ers who have met TT'ers...and almost universally say that they are great, fun people who they'd hike with again anytime. This includes several whose TT personas are irritating and obnoxious. ;-)

That's why I really look forward to meeting more of the group. Even you, TD.

Although, I must admit, I might be just a little hesitant to bring along my 13-year-old daughter... ;-)

I think that I am pretty much like what I post. I don't know though, ask Aero. I am honest about myself, for instance that I am often a whiner.
