Hey everybody! I spent Sunday (hungover from the Christmas Party) with a couple of friends checking out waterfalls.

Southern Illinois has had an exceptional amount of rainfall for this time of year. The waterfall action is awesome.

We went first to Burden Falls, then Bell Smith Springs, then Jackson Falls. A good share of the year these falls are just trickles, right now they are torrents!

I'll post some pics soon as I get my film back.

Another cool place to see waterfalls is the Columbia River Gorge outside of Portland OR. Way cool. I was there over the weekend. I imagine any place on the W. Coast is good for waterfalls right now with all the winter rain.

Also saw Mt. Saint Helens. AWESOME! gotta get back there.

Yosemite has one of the best collection of waterfalls in the US. Hike from Glacier Point to the valley floor for a great scenic hike filled with waterfalls.

About 10 years ago, while driving to pick up videos, I stopped at the local waterfalls to check out the discharge after we just had a volumous downpour. Next thing I know, I'm in the raging stream dragging this unconscious *almost-drowned* person out of the water.

Hey Mark, did you have to deal with any ice coming out of Bell Smith? That trail is slick in dry weather!

No ice on Sunday, but I'm sure there is now.

I hiked Giant City on Christmas Day and there were lots of giant icicles!

Right now there are some cool places in HNF that have a few water falls......But most of the stuff is cool running creeks and streams.....And that blows my hair back just as much as waterfalls do...:)

The best water falls that I have seen are in Keystone Canyon about 15 miles our of Valdez Alaska. If you ever get a chance to get up to Alaska you have to go there and see them. It is a awesome sight

Water in the Sky
Listen as she speaks to you
Hear the voices flutter through
The barriers arranged by you

Close the shutters draw the shades
filter out the everglades
glistening with evening dew

Thunder calls through waterfalls
rising tides and ocean walls
I can hear you when you sigh

Listen as she speaks to you
hear the voices flutter through
watch them fall and let them lie

Thunder calls through waterfalls
rising tides and ocean walls
I can hear you when you sigh

Listen as she speaks to you
Hear the voices flutter through
Through the Water In The Sky

Some cool falls are in Yellowstone Park and I saw one very beautiful waterfall in the Alps in Germany. (My opinion on the matter doesn't count for too much though, I live in a drought state and haven't seen many waterfalls.)

Frozen falls
Lots of waterfalls of various sizes across the U.P. of Michigan. But this time of year, there is a place between Marquette and Munising where a minor stream trickling over a wide ledge freezes to form sublime ice caves behind the translucent curtain of ice. A great place to snowshoe or X-C ski back to (although snowmobilers know of it to). Haven't been in years, so don't ask me for directions; I believe it's near Eben.
