“Use the phone. I work at a large retailer. We ALWAYS answer e-mails, but when you can talk to the customer personally, the resolution will occur faster. Caveat, you must be willing to look up the phone number and be persistant in order to get the right person on the phone. Also, be constructive. If you can describe the issue it may unveil a quality issue that they can resolve for the masses.

But like I tried to explain before it really has less to do with the jacket than with my ego... I was just like all of you in my earnest defense of my favorite gear maker. The 1st email was just to open the communications with them to get the problem fixed and make me feel confident in them again.. what transpired caught me off gaurd and embarrassed me so much I became angry at MYSELF...

Enough with the excuses and analysis... I'm very sorry for sounding so obnoxious and petty... I want to feel confident again so I can enjoy my treasures when I'm doing my favorite activities...

Please forgive me... I will eventually get around to contacting them... Bad thing is I've already replaced the item... So I think I just need to allow my wound to heal and get back on track....”

“I had a tear in my Marmot jacket and I ironed on a patch... and then the material got a little melty and stuck together... so I microwaved it to tried to soften it up so I could separate it, but it got even worse and pieces melted onto the walls of my microwave. When I complained to the those E-ville customer hating people in the warranty department, they not only refused to pay for ruining my micro-wave, they refused to replace my jacket.

None of this would have happened if they made a jacket that didn't rip when you stepped on it with crampons - or if they had contacted me when I wished they would. And I wished real hard - upon a star and everything.

I guess I'll have to file a class action suit against Marmot, Austral-Alpin (the crampon maker) and the Park Service (if they had done the proper snow and ice removal, I wouldn't have been wearing the crampons).”
