call to AZ, east NV, east OR hikers

“Hi all of you in AZ, NV, OR or WA,
I'm on a trip headed to eastern WA and am now in the Tucson area. I expect the total remaining time to be a couple/ few more weeks. I wonder if all you hikers can suggest some "must do's" in the area. My plan is to go NW through AZ to Las Vegas, then 93 north to Ely, NV. Then more or less north to WA. If anyone has any time to meet me for a hike or an overnight backpack or a chat over coffee with a great view, great.

“As far as the middle of Nevada goes, you are heading through the wasteland. As you approach Ely, you will be on the Eastern edge of the Great Basin National Park. I really don't know to much about that area.”

supposedly the wasteland of the eastern great basin is spectacular to look at, but i just don't know if there's an off the beaten track "don't miss this" spot.”
