I got it narrowed down and......
i looks like it may be the nallo 2 for my new tent. questions: is it long enough? i'm a little over 6' 1". how's the ventilation? do you use it year round? it looks like the ideal tent. 5 pounds, two people (at least it looks big enough for me and my wife), able to withstand winter use. what are the negatives of this tent? there must be something.

Baume - Good choice! The materials that Hilleberg uses are second to none. I like the design of the Nallo.

i like the design of the akto too, but like the fact that the nallo is a two person.

Only out in the yard. Temps have only gotten down to 20 or so degrees. Nothing of a real test for it. I like what I see so far, though. I hope to get into some real stuff soon. We haven't had any real snow here in my part of Michigan.

I think that the Nallo is the best design for a two person tent. At 5 lbs, it's not bad for the pack as well. When sitting up in the Akto, it's a little tight with the inner tent in. I noticed that you said that your around 6'1". I'm 5'11" so I think it would be tight for you too.

Baume66, RichB and MSilver were out hiking for four days. They should be back this evening, so RichB will probably have some answers for you soon. I don't think he's had the Nallo for a year even, but he didn't mention any negatives. I would love to have that tent. I think Rich said that the vestibule props up so you can cook under it like a tarp if it is raining or snowing.

Baume 66, I have my Nallo 2 about 6 months now and have used it in a few rain storms, fair weather and this past week, sub freezing temps with a few inches of snow. The tent at 87 inches long should be long enough for you, but the inner roof at 36 inches could be a little higher. It's OK for me since I'm 5'7". The tent has a lot of elbow room and seems big inside. I use it solo so it's really roomy for me.
The ventilation is OK for colder weather use since the front door can be left open even in the rain. The back of the tent has no windows or vents, but you can lift the back part of the fly off the ground about 6" with the guylines, but if wind isn't blowing don't expect much ventilation from there. I wouldn't call the Nallo a summer tent, but I like a tarp in warm weather so it doesn't matter to me. It's more of a cold weather tent and it worked good for me the last few days. Some frost did form on the fly, but would have on any tent, especially cooking in the vestibule. There were a few crystals on the inner part too, but not a lot. The condensation isn't as heavy as my TNF Westwind. The fly material is so slippery that the frost shakes off easily for packing the tent in the morning. If you need more ventilation the Nammatj has a vent in the back, the Nallo saves weight without it. To me the vestibule is the best part of the tent.
The negatives of the Nallo are:
It costs more than most tents, you'll need to tension the guylines after a rain storm or snow to keep it taut, it's not free standing so you need to get at least 4 stakes in and the bug netting is yellow and has poor visibility. It should be black. The pole sleeves are tighter than most tents so require more careful threading of the poles. They make it this way for strength. Some people don't like the green color, but I do and the yellow inner is nice.
For the several trips I used the tent, I like it and it it's the best tent I ever had. Properly guyed out it will probably withstand weather that would flatten most tents.
