Wet Down Bags Smell Like...

“Saltines in dishwater.”

“I got rained on pretty bad the last time I was out and the waterproof sack for my sleeping bag failed. I didn't realize that when down got wet that it would stank up the tent like it did.

Just wondered if others have noticed.”

“Should smell like a goose. If it smells like a duck, you got ripped off.”

“Hmm. Never really smelled either animal up close, but your comment got me wondering. The bag was the "house brand" (Iron Mountian Gear) at the local outfitter and was on sale for $129. The tag says 100% down - which makes me wonder that if it were Goose down they would have said as much on the tag. I'm sure I neglected to ask when I bought it.”
