Hiking N/S trail @ LBL in March
Is their anyone interested in hiking on the North/South trail sometime in March? This trail is located in southwest Kentucky and northwestern Tennessee. It is 69 miles in total length but I am wanting to spend a long weekend on it.

Thanky Pekka.
Should be a pretty good trip regardless of weather conditions though.

Somehow I always think of winter in the mid-south as including ice storms. Can't imagine hiking in that. But glad you are cool with what Ma Nature brings you.

Is the trail pretty flat, or does it roll? I looked up some info on the park a while back, but it didn't give much description of terrain when discussing the trail.

It kinda rolls. The terraine is pretty easy though.
If you want me to send you a park map, send my your home address to walkindude32@home.com
I got an extra map or 2.

Are you considering the 15-17 or 16-18. And how many miles do you hope to do. I will be coming from the south, If someone can pick me up at what will be the end of the hike, then I can be the return vehicle to the start point. I don;t have a huge vehicle, but I could get 5 plus gear in.

5 plus gear??? that is what I would call a huge vehicle - I could barely manage 3 plus gear in mine.

I have a rav 4, it can squeeze 3 in the back (not large or too tall) folks and easy 5 back packs in the back, that is unless I bring my dog...

Stikmon, I will have more info of exactly where we will end tomorrow.
How many miles can and does everyone want to cover a day.It doesn't matter to me as far as distance and I know the same holds true for Langer man( HE CAN COVER A LOT OF GROUND). I do not mind giving someone a ride and Langer my wife said that you are to spend the night and she will start our morning off with a good breakfest.
We will head out ASAP after B"fest
and head to the LBL.

I live 15 minutes from the North Welcome station. Can't keep up with you big miles guys, but would love to meet you!

travel
Gypsie, I can drive on up on a Thursday evening, no problem there. The sleep over accomodations are mucho appreciated. The good Lord willing and work allowing (sometimes I get the two mixed up), I'll be there. What's the consensus on bringing my pooch? He loves people...fried, sauteed, marinated, pickled, bar-b-qued even raw. LOL :-)

Fund Raising
I am doing a fund raising even trying to raise some green for the YMCA outdoor adventure program...am putting together a group who is going to thru hike the N/S Trail at LBL on MLK JR weekend. We are going around and getting pledges and such. The entire trail is 60 miles. Think any of you would be interested in being a participant? I could use a few more experienced backpacker to make the run with me.
