Hiking the North/South trail @ LBL in Ma rch

“My boss called me into the office today and told me I can't have the Friday and the Monday off to go backpacking at the LBL.I am very MAD about this but there is nothing I can do about it.Ed I will have to come down another time I am sorry....:(”

Gypsie, where are you planning on camping Friday and sat nights? I got my trail map today from LBL.”

Are yall still planning to stay at Sugar Jack shelter on Friday night. I think I can damn near drive to it.”

“Dude, if you can't drive to it I can!! Really need 4wd for the last part down the hill. Working days, so I'll be off at 7:00pm. Let me know if ya' need a ride.”

“How close can you get to the shelter before you need 4WD?”

“If it hasn't rained a lot, you can get to within 1/4 - 1/2 mile..but you would probably have to leave your truck on the main road. I'll try to check out the conditions of the road this weekend.”

“What type of vehicle do you have? If you are still thinking that Golden Pond is the finishing point, we could leave your vehicle at GP and take my (sort of truck) and go to the shelter...its 4wd. All we would need to do is then get me and Khatru back to my vehicle. Even if I have to walk some of the way to my car, that would be ok. How long does it take you to get to LBL? If you and I can plan general time lines to arrive around the same time, we can go straight to the group. Do you have a cell phone, you have my #, you could call while on the road or on arrival.

“It takes me about 2 1/2 hours to get to LBL. We could meet at Golden Pond and head to the shelter. I don't have a cell phone. I'll probbly try to call you tonight.”

“that works for me. I can escape from work @ 4:00 and can be there I think @ 4 hours. get in late, but there for the nights festivities...Lets talk...I will be near my cell all night”

I will have my photo's, I need to take more shots, but I don;t know about everyones feelings, other than SuperTroll. I like to take photos, lots of them. Party pictures, you know...history and memories.”

“I got a suggestion. If Gypsie don't get back about this trip, What do ya say we all just meet at the North Welcome Station and do the loop. It's only about 10 or 12 miles but at least we won't need to do a shuttle.

“is there back country camping on the loop, my maps don't show any, if not, and we base camp and hike, then, Im bringing my big tent and fire wood and all my good cooking equipment and we will eat like kings....t-bones potatoes, vegi's the whole nine yards”
