Just gave the new bag/pad combo its first below 40 degree test (this is Florida). It never ceases to amaze me how it can be bitter and windy outside but so warm and toasty inside (except for my feet - Skully we need down booties!).

Think my Thermarest has a slow leak, gradually my rump, shoulders and calves made it to the ground.

I prefer the full length delux RidgeRest, it's that great big whanker resting atop my pack as I hike (downside). But I use it dually as a groundcloth and as a pad underneath my bivy. Boy lemme tell yuns how jealous campfire mates can be of it tho, LOL! For snow I take the 3/4 length UltraLite ThermaRest also, and I slide it into my bivy ..... nice and cozy.

WD you gonna like that Z-Rest!

You cold feet sleepers need to use a quart Nalgene bottle w/ hot water at night on your cold trips. Yeah it might sound like a pretty decent idear and all, but ......... wait til you try it! It also serves as a very easy way to stay hydrated on them chilly days, just slurp down your dawg warmer first thang in the morning.

Coop if it's new, you prolly don't have a leak. With weight and body warmth, your air pad will have some stretch to it that'll diminish very quickly with time. Uh the stretch will diminish, not your air.

Yeah Ape - that might be it - I've only used it for about 3 nights. I'll give it a little time.

Fix it now
Don't wait, Big Coop.

Find the leak. Over-inflate your Thermarest and go over it with a warm soapy sponge as you squeeze the mattress to increase pressure. Mark the bubbles with a Sharpie and repair with McNett Seam Grip

If your @ss is on the cold ground at 3:00 a.m. you got a leak.

Better way bacpac: inflate it regular-like, lay it in a bathtub with about a half foot of water, and you and a pal stand on it. Then do the Sharpie and McNett thang.

FYI Coop, if this is your first Thermapad, store it with the valve all the way open in an upright inflated (naturally) position. Don't leave it stored in yo stuff sack, and after a hike, over the next cupla days, fully expell the air outa it several times to mostly reduce/eliminate the moisture from ya trip.

?
naked ape, You told Big Coop his thermarest was going flat because it was stretching... and now you wanna tell me how to find a hole?

Thanks, but no thanks. I don't need a pal to stand in the bathtub with me to fix a leaky thermarest.
