Backpacking.net has a new format that is pretty slick (although some will not like it)and is better than their old REI-style, endless latter/list style. It's very functional and useful and there's plenty of great info there also.”

“Tilt I have a pack likt that too - a Gregory Forester - my best guess is that the clear plastic on the underside of the top pocket (the bonnet) is rubbing on a plastic strap holder that is right under it. - I just live with it but if it is driving you nuts then stick a towel between the two sections.”

“Correction: I said I'd be looking elsewhere than TT for serious backpacking research. But after so stating a coupla other TT folks invited me to stick around and see if I got used to TT, so I did. And I have.

It took me a few rounds to get that the heart of what makes this board special is not the serious backpacking info (although there is some great stuff here in between discussions about who is a Hottie, boobs and armpits, etc.), but the cleverness of some of the participants.

The banter is somewhat addictive, I admit.

Sounds like what rubbed YOU the wrong way was my original comment about "trailer park" level dialogue. That pushed a lot of people's buttons, and likely sounded elitist.

Probably a knee-jerk reaction to being told by some wag "not to let the door hit me in the" derrier* when I commited the sin of thanking folks for recommendations to a couple of other boards, if I was looking for more serious Q&A chatter.

Then of course, you waded in with some personal insults hooked to a lame psych observation, likely from Psych 101 class. Last semester?

In your latest post, the name-calling is watered down to "childish." I guess when I grow up I'll find it cool to talk about farts online.

I do regret my "trailer park" comment, however.
