Which trail are you talking? The Manistee River Trail? Can you do that with snowshoes?

That sounds good.
Now that would be a great trail to do on snowshoes.I don't see why not. That is a good trail. We could do that or a part of the North country trail.I want input from everyone.

Nordhouse sound like it would be a good one as well. I've never been, but I've heard good things 'bout it. Are you going on the day hike at Waterloo/Pickney in a couple of weeks?

Reformed Lurker (Mike) posted about it in the Michigan Mountianeers Brainstroming thread. Waterloo/Pickney is located just east of Jackson, Michigan. I don't know what type (length) of a trip it would be for you to get out there.

Nordhouse would be cool in the winter, but it would not be a snowshoe trip. The sand tnds to blow and cover the dunes and it is like a fozen sand hill. It is great. But you dont need snowshoes. It would be incredibly beutiful though

Well, we're getting about 4 inches here in SW MI. I imagine that there's more up there...check zip code 49010 on Weather.com. What part of MNF are you planning on visiting? It covers a big area.

Check here for snow depths:

There is also a good map at intellicast.com

Wait til tomorrow and they'll update for the snow falling tonight. It looks like about 4 or 5 inches around here. Why don't you come over and snowshoe in my yard?

Man, I haven't heard anyone mention Brohman in a long time. That was in our road trip territory when I lived in Big Rapids. Went to the Brohman Bar on gun-deer season opening weekend about 1971 to see a friend's band play. Whoa, a carload of hippies walking into that place was a real trip. There weren't any tables left, but my pal and I plopped down with a biker and his babe who had a couple chairs open. Our friend played every country-tinged rock song he knew, and we slipped out after a particularly spirited response to a Stones number.

Hope you guys have fun on the trail.

Anyone ever been to Old Joe's Bar in the UP? It's on the way to Munising from Iron Mountain.

I met a bartender from Peru who moved to Michigan to be "close" to Chicago. Some woman came in with a bunch of dogs and couldn't keep her hands off me at the bar. Then, finally, this guy who looked like Evil Knieval came in with a crash helmet. Beautiful collection of people out in the middle of nowhere.
