Trailfest is an event that takes place in Hot Springs, NC to celebrate the recreational activities in and around this small mountain town. Focal to this celebration is the passage of Appalachian Trail thru-hikers through this town. Events and offerings, such as the hiker's parade, music, presentations, vendors, duck race, and food, are geared to provide entertainment, enjoyment, and sustenance for thru-hikers and visitors alike.

Hot Springs is the first "real" town on the AT as hikers pass north on the trail. Although small, Hot Springs provides a number of services needed by the thru-hiking community: a bank, a post office, a restaurantor two, a clinic, lodging, and a place to rest for a bit.

Besides being a place for the hiker to recuperate and reorganize, it is also an ideal place to meet family and friends who have not been seen while the hiker is on the trail. Lodging is available in Hot Springs that can accomodate the whole family. Think of it as a Hiker Homecoming.
