“No. You need to open the map where your waypoints are located, then, when you download from your GPS, they will appear on the map. If the waypoints are not within the limits of the map set you have open, they will simply not appear on your map and there will be a "No" under the "In Region" column when viewing the "GPS Waypoint List" (see the "View" dropdown menu).”

“Hmmm. Maybe that wasn't too clear. Let's say I open up my California map set. Then I download my Montana waypoints from my Etrex. The waypoints will not appear on the map on the screen, but they will be listed under the GPS Waypoint List. In the list, under the "In Region" column, it will indicate "No." Is that better?”

“Then, upon realizing I have the wrong map set open, I can simply do a "File" "Open" and select the Montana.tpo base map (or any other customized .tpo I have created using the Montana maps). The new map will open AND the waypoints will now be both visible on the map and indicated as Yes (In Region).”
