WOAH, THIS STUFF IS BETTER THAN CRACK!!!
Ok, I'm new to the whole coffee drinking thing.

What's a Latte? How about a Coffee Expresso con Panne?

I just want the maximum caffeine in the smallest amount of liquid possible....Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Raspberry Mocha with whip cream and a triple shot. If that don't wake ya up, nothing will!

A Latte is just coffee with milk. Usually warm but can be had iced.

Oh, just read Biz's request for big buzz low liquid. Just order a triple espresso. Let it cool, and suck it down in one shot. That ought to get the wheels turning.

Of course a bottle of No Doz might do the trick too.

Just get one of those 4-cup espresso machines and fire it up with an XL coffee cup under it instead of the carafe it came with. You'll be in orbit in no time.

Don't worry about the uncontrollable twitching. It's a perfectly normal side-effect.

I'm kinda partial to unblended Kona, m'self.

try a " double hotshot"
your favorite cup of coffee, with 2 shots of espresso. That always does the trick for me. I'm a true coffee addict. I have worked years to perfect my addiction.

Side question...how do you all make coffee while PB'ing? This is something I still need to perfect.

darn how where did I put that song to "Saint Caffeine" (sigh)

Y'all are a bunch of addicts - just think how much lighter your pack would be if y'all were off the sauce ... err whatever

water really does taste just fine (grin) and I have been known to brew a little mint or chamomile tea just to relax with at night and a tea bag weighs a lot less than an expresso machine (BSEG)

Geez HOI, you used to haul an espresso machine on bp trips? Wasn't a b!ch plugging it back in if someone kicked the cord? Where do you get an 8 mile extension cord anyway?

I thought that chicory's sedating effect was supposed to counteract the effects of caffiene in those dark French roasted coffee and chicory blends. I enjoy a nice cup of New Orleon's style coffee once in a while but Peet's Fair Trade Blend coffee is the best!

The best espresso I have ever had is at Two Street Station in downtown Fairbanks. Now I hear that the twentysomething owners are selling. :-(

I like variety, but one of my favorites is Guatemala Antiqua.

On the trail, I usually use my one cup filter. I've tried the Big Sky press, but it seems too much trouble. The little backpacker espresso makers work too.

This is kind of cool. An interview with the above mentioned owner of Two Street Station. Some of it is about running a small biz, but some is the intricacies of espresso and steaming milk.

Wind Walker - I agree on the unblended Kona...but very expensive.

I just like a very strong cup of fresh brewed (dripped) Columbian, Kona, Sumatra, or whatever. Hits the spot.

Around home I go to Starbucks or Seattle's Best...whichever is most convenient.

There are a lot of previous threads on on coffee that are probably worth reading.

For sure, Phil. A friend wanted me to try some Jamaica Blue Mountain and I told him I wouldn't touch it!
The last thing I needed was to get hooked on that $40/lb stuff. The Kona is bad enough.

For all you coffee aficionados out there:

'Good to the last dropping:' cat poop coffee

EDMONTON - An upscale grocery store in Edmonton is stocking an unusual delicacy: coffee beans picked from the feces of a jungle cat.

Urban Fare is testing whether its customers will shell out $600 per pound for "Kopi Luwak" coffee beans, billed as one of the rarest beverages in the world.

Only 500 lbs (227 kg) of the beans are produced every year. The store plans to carry four lbs (1.8 kg).

The label for the beans promotes it as "Good to the Last Dropping," giving an indication of how the beans are produced.

It all comes down to a marsupial called by several names — luwak, common palm civet and toddy cat or Paradoxurus hermaphroditus — which exists in rainforests from northern India to the Philippines.

The luwak is considered a pest because it often climbs coffee trees and eats the coffee cherries. The cat is unable to digest them, so the beans pass through the cat's digestive system unscathed and into its droppings. Coffee plantations on three islands in Indonesia collect the beans from the feces.

Experts say the luwak likes to eat the ripest and reddest coffee beans, which are the best ones for brewing. The cat eats the outer covering of the beans in the same way that de-pulping machines process the beans.

Apparently the enzymes in the animal's stomach add "something unique" to the coffee's flavour through fermentation. The beans are thoroughly cleaned and then roasted at 249 degrees C.

According to store manager Leanne Ring, there are "some coffee nuts" who want to give it a try. Ring describes the taste as "earthy and bold" with no bitterness or aftertaste.

Other Web sites have described it as having a rich, strong aroma with a "complex" and "gamey" flavour.

I know it sounds like an urban legend, but it's not, at least not according to what I've dug up. I guess the only way to get ripped off is if you spend all that money only to find out that it wasn't really pooped out by a weasel.

Don't laugh. A friend of mine was a missionary in Burma when he was about 16. They went into the back country to escape the communists and lived off of the land for two years. They would collect undigested berries from animal (deer) dung, clean it off and use it for food.

Do they sell those beans over the internet?
