Backpacker Magazine Is The BestView Messages“Well the magazine may not be what it once was. As we get more experienced at hiking over the years we tend to be exposed to a lot of ideas and technique by magazines and other means. Backpacking itself is a relatively simple activity so certainly a lot of things will be repeated so they seem to pertain more to beginners. I do have to credit Backpacker magazine for giving me plenty of tips over the years, some of which has helped me out and a few things I still practice 20 years later. I learned about certain foods in Backpacker, some good recipes, training tips, gear maintenance hints, ect. Information now is easier to come by with the internet, but I still get the magazine 20 years later and who knows maybe there will be something new that I might pick up from it. Then again maybe not anymore, but there aren't many outdoor magazines to chose from out there.” 8:58:01 PM 10/28/02 “When you read it its what you make of it I like to read it but ther are some things in it that I don't like and there some things that I like. 8)” 9:01:33 PM 10/28/02 “actually I think it is both the best and the worst out there . . . are there any other strictly bpacking mags?” 9:08:26 PM 10/28/02 “I smell the need for some competition. Time to shut ole Backpacker down!” 11:40:42 PM 10/28/02
