“Max elevation setting, three miles, and with a backpack at 40lbs ...on the treadmill. An hour later and MAN, that felt good! Okay, it's late. Probably should be in bed.” 2:12:54 AM 1/06/02 “Do you burn one of those pine-scented candles? It would give you more of an outdoor feel. Of course I don't think the benzene some of those things give off would be good for the lungs.” 2:20:28 AM 1/06/02 “I thought this thread was about one of my old Rock Bands. I played Bass in "Cheap Thrills" back in the 80's.” 4:43:15 AM 1/06/02 “Birch and I bought a treadmill over the holidays. He runs at least 3 miles four to five days a week. There are now "mountaineering" treadmills. They have a short belt, 2.5 or 3 feet or so, and a crazy steep pitch. He got so excited when he saw that he actually wanted one! He had himself convinced he could run on it LOL.” 7:48:55 AM 1/06/02 “A treadmill(TM) with a reverse would be great. Then one could exercise those downhill muscles, too. Or, how 'bout one with a lot of lumps on the surface to simulate the ankle twisting stones that I often encounter? I do believe in using TMs. There is no comparison to level, street walking. After an hour per day for a month on a TM, I graduated from easy to strenuous trails in GSMNP with no problem.” 8:00:00 AM 1/06/02 “Sass, the Mnt. treadmil is what I have the TETON, 50% grade and goes to -5 . Or you can look at the Adventure Hiker, same thing but goes to 20% max! I love it 2hrs. five-six miles a night!” 8:18:21 AM 1/06/02 expensive thrill “i envision a treadmill with a huge digital screen in front of it....you could choose where you want to run by inserting the appropriate dvd....mountains today, the beach tomorrow, whatever....the treadmill would be connected to the screen in such a manner as to allow the picture to progress at the same rate as your running pace....you could have appropriate sound effects piped in as well....” 8:19:12 AM 1/06/02 “gon, they allready have it!” 8:20:19 AM 1/06/02 “you can buy a video and IF you have a large enough TV, you can sit in front of it do your workout and the treadmill changes by it self w/ the terrain.” 8:21:46 AM 1/06/02 “a day late and a dollar short, as usual....does the incline change automatically to allow you to run up and down hills?” 8:22:07 AM 1/06/02 “you just hook your Tread to it and your set.” 8:22:25 AM 1/06/02 “yes sir. thats what I do for a living repair and refurbish fitness equip!” 8:23:52 AM 1/06/02 “prowler.... how much does one of these rigs cost?” 8:24:41 AM 1/06/02 “from me or new NEW: $899-1200 Refurb(Mch better): 400-700” 8:26:17 AM 1/06/02 “they are definetly the way to go. 2 hrs on this machine a night and your chilin on your next trip!” 8:27:46 AM 1/06/02 “I like stair-steppers better.” 10:12:05 AM 1/06/02 just a sidenote “In 1989 I paid $3,000 + sales tax to Sears for their best treadmill. I used it for 3 years. But. because of intermittent problems with the on-off switch which they had been unable to correct, they allowed me to return it and gave me a check for about $3,200. They did make good on their policy!” 10:28:54 AM 1/06/02 “unable to correct because its called sears PMT's! they come in go like day and night! If you had a sertified company they would have fixed it for you right the first time! hehe there policy can not be beat thow!” 10:34:12 AM 1/06/02 “Prowler - You're correct. When I did ask to return it, it was in their shop, where they thought that they finally had it fixed. But two things led to my request: First, I needed the money. Secondly, I had learned the parts were very limited for this Finnish TM. The company had switched suppliers shortly after starting this particular model. So, future repairs may have been quite difficult.” 10:51:19 AM 1/06/02
