Changed my first diaper today.
No biggie. (The task and what was in it.)

I guess Treebait's kitty litter box training worked for me.

Bring on peuberty and dating!

Errrrr.....better hold off on the dating.

Wow, what a beauty! Congratulations to both of you.

HPM, make sure you take care of EVERYTHING but the baby for at least a week. Don't let treebait lift a finger! She'll regret it if she does. Ouchy, those C-sections smart! =) I'm happy for all of you.

Her apgar number was 9. I think she's perfect, Treebait says she's just right.

She also thinks seeing daddy is her cue to poop or spit up, I get all her attentions in those areas. I feel loved.

When I come home all the cats run like hell to the door, see me and try to look around me to see if Treebait is coming home. When they don't see her the actually sigh and slowly walk away. No kidding, I can actually HEAR them sigh and see their heads bob.

Treebait is doing well but when the painkillers give out, well anyone who has had surgery knows all about that. Treebait was up and walking today and hopefully will be allowed soild food tomorrow.

I'm dying to take then home on Friday.

Hey Hpm, you might want to bring home a baby blanket Laurel was swaddled in for those cats to sniff over real well before the baby comes home.

HPM, it's great that Treebait is already up and moving around. That was when I started feeling lots better. And no worries, she won't need those pain pills for too much longer.

My wife had three c-sections, and we were told that the sooner she could get herself moving, the faster her recovery would be. Out experience (trying to compare the three) seemed to validate that advice.

Has something to do with the abdominal organs shutting down as a response to the surgery, and the stimulation of moving around seems to trigger them to get back to normal.

Well Little Bit seems to be the most interested. She's the cat that misses Treebait the most right now. Bitty has been wandering from room to room looking for her.

Newgirl I think they do! LOL

When I went back they had given Laurel a pretty little hand crocheted cap. I think they have a volunteer group of ladies that knits them for the newborns.

Free baby girl clothes? Sure, wanna trade for gear? I have quite a few things I wouldn't mind parting with. We both might as well benefit from it. Just email me.

I always wondered... how do you swaddle someone?
Tilt

8/30/02

Swaddling, Why doe Tilt need to know?
First you lay the blanket out flat, then place the baby on it. Fold one side over, fold the bottom up, and the other side over. Kind of like how you close the end of a burrito. Its magic, making a fussy baby feel secure and calming the baby down.

Swaddling

swad·dle
Function: transitive verb
Inflected Form(s): swad·dled; swad·dling/'swäd-li[ng], 'swä-d&l-i[ng]/
Etymology: Middle English swadelen, swathelen, probably alteration of swedelen, swethelen, from swethel swaddling band, from Old English; akin to Old English swathian to swathe
Date: 14th century
1 a : to wrap (an infant) with swaddling clothes b : ENVELOP, SWATHE <we swaddled ourselves in sleeping bags> <ha!>
2 : RESTRAIN, RESTRICT <marriage... swaddled him in a domesticity he came to loathe -- Nina Auerbach> <Nah... LOL>

Middle English / Old English… no wonder it's so weird-sounding, <G>.
