Well we've poisoned the board enough with football. My Bama team is now ranked about 14th with a 14-2 record. We're playing better teams this year, so surely we'll get in the big dance.

The University of Memphis Tigers remain a big mystery to me. Look really good in some games and look equally as bad in others. However, if Caliparri holds to form, they will gel about the first of February. Just hope they can make the big dance.

UNM Lobos almost took #18 Gonzaga State down on ESPN Monday night. 17,000 plus in The Pit with a 10pm start. The Pit Roars!

UNM has had three or four years of consistent improvement with new coach. Mountain West conference play starts Monday, again in ESPN against Air Force.

GO FLORIDA!
Couldn't quite hang on, dayhiker? That was one heck of a game. Tennessee played their butts off. Brett Nelson's three pointer, to take the game to overtime, was just incredible! Florida's bench is young but looks good. Even without #1 NBA pick Kwame Brown, the Gators still had a top 3 recruiting class last year and it shows.

I saw David Lee? in the McDonald's game. He was great. Yall got the dunk contest winner and we got the 3-point contest winner. To have that many signees in the McDonald's game was unbelievable. Quite an accomplishment.

I got my bachelors from UT and my JD from U of M. Memphis has a football team,,,,I think. Was in Law School during our run to the Final Four in the mid eighties. Sort of left me following U of M basketball more than I did the Vols. Of course, it can be tough when UT plays U of M,,this years game went to the wire with Memphis winning by 3. (one of the games where U of M looked really good).

Rock Chalk Jayhawk, KU!!!!!

Bammy is strong this year. I have no doubt that they will be in the field of 64, if they keep playing like they are now.
I used to watch Memphis at Henry Levitt Arena in Wichita KS, when they were in the Missouri Valley. The Valley has had some great teams in their history.
I was glad to see Puke fall the other night, but I hate to get the #1 ranking before the end of the season. I hope Kansas can keep up the consistency through the season. We have a tough schedule for the next 4 games.
Donovan has the Gaiters playing strong again.

Donovan will forever be a thorn in Bama's side. Most Bama fans remember out best team ever of about '87. We were supposedly a lock for the Final Four. We ran into a young, up and coming coach with a scrappy guard. They beat our butt by about 30 and then did the same to Georgetown. That team was Providence with Rick Pitino as coach and Billy Donovan lightling up the 3's. Talk about a dagger through our heart. We now have to play that guy every year.

Oh yeah, we had a guard on that team named Mark Gottfried who was pretty good.

Yeah Dunadan, at least someone knows what they're talking about on this board. I'm psyched for the game tomorrow afternoon - I'll feel better on my couch if its wet, windy and nasty out, but as long as KU wins, I'm happy. Damn the boys look good this year, eh? Freshmen looking good, gooden/collison have been unstoppable, and boschee/hinrich have taken care of the ball and dropped some trey's. Definitely addition by subtraction w/ Chenowith gone, and I'm hoping this is the year. Got to go to the game at Boulder last week, plenty of KU fans and we got the chant going with a few minutes left. I'm coming out to Allen in 3 weeks for the CU-KU game out there - pretty psyched about that!! Alright, better get back to work.

My man, can you get me a ticket? I live a few blocks from Allen Fieldhouse, and you could save some cash and crash at my place after the game. Let me know....
Yes, I definitely agree about the Chenowith statement. He will always have a place in the true Jayhawk heart, but he wasn't the most talented 7 footer.
Hey, Arc, Florida is getting in a bad habit of losing. Hope your team is hot at the end of the season. I would love to see the Mighty Jayhawks tangle with the Gaiters. Not to mention the Vols, Tide, etc...
Hey, Chili, the Mo Val is still around. I have watched Larry Bird play several times. We used to be referred to as the Valley of Death because the prime-time teams always hated to play in the Valley. Nothing to win and everything to lose.

BTW, fenway, I saw that game and it looked rough. I think most teams try to play physical against KU. It usually doesn't work in the Big 12, but I've seen some tournament games where we've been mugged.
I loved watching you guys waving the wheat in Boulder. One of the Harrison brothers was complaining that it felt like an "away" game.

We were and foul trouble all night and still one. Maybe this team is growing up. Before last night BAMA was 2-24 on the road in the last 4 years. A road win was HUGE.

Some of the very eloquent arguments on the college football have convinced me of the error of my thinking. I have a new position about sports scoring, and I feel all warm and fuzzy about my new found morality.

Did anyone pay attention to Florida's 102-70 destruction of LSU? It was shameful! Just shameful I say! This running up the score in college sports has got to change. Florida ran its offense THE ENTIRE GAME! How disgusting. They should have shown some class by just dribbling around the court to burn time until the shot clock expired. They should have done this until LSU had a chance to make the score closer.

It is unacceptable to think that some fans may be upset by these large margins of victory. The people who get resentful of these large margins have obviously lost control of their feelings and I say that none of us has the right to control the way these people feel!

IMHO we should pick some random number, out of thin air, that will decide when a team needs to shut down its offense. I say a ten point margine is more than enough to be sure of winning a game.

To enforce this morally righteous position, we need to convince the NCAA to make a bunch of new laws:

1. If a teams scores over ten points more than their opponent, The players should all be made to write letters of appology to the opposing player's families.

2. If a teams scores over ten points more than their opponent, the coach needs to appear on TV, before a National audience, and grovel for forgiveness.

3. If a teams scores over ten points more than their opponent, all of the offending team's fans shall have "NO CLASS" tattooed on their foreheads in red ink and shall be shunned by all right thinking people.

I HAVE BEEN SAVED! Can I get an AMEN for this morally righteous position?

Uh, not to bring the arguement back, but the point had more to do with who was running the offense than the actual running of that offense. For example, two years ago we took Shuan Alexander and Freddie Milons out of the gall game during the later part of the SECCG in 99. If we had left them in, the margin of victory would have been far greater.

Hey Dunadan...sorry about the delay, haven't checked in here too often. I went snowshoeing during the UCLA game and watched it when I got back. Not pretty, that first half was pathetic. Now the OSU game, that was an entirely different story. Living out in CO, all those midweek games make me go to the bar, just what I need! That UCLA game was definitely a wake-up call. Now for the OU game on Saturday, another test that I think the boys will be up for. Win that and the Big XII title will hopefully be coming back where it belongs.
That CU game was a little rough, I've gone the last 3 years and CU always tries to bait KU into some rough stuff. The younger Harrison was talking smack afterwards, he said Kansas will "get theirs" when they come to Lawrence. Sure buddy. About the game there - my buddy lives there and got tickets for us a couple weeks ago. I think he just called the ticket office...not sure. I'll be crashing at his pad, but if you wanted to meet for a beer at Louise's or the Yacht Club, that'd be cool. We could always park by your place and have a few before the game too. Either way, I'm psyched. I came out for MU 2 years ago, and Senior Night last year. Rock Chalk!!
Chenotag, I defended him his junior year, but by the end of the season last year I honestly disliked him, and I've loved ever other KU player unconditionally. I'm definitely happy Boschee set the all-time 3-pter record (makes and attempts), being from North Dakota originally thats pretty sweet. Alright, back to work I suppose...

I don't remember that being the point, dayhiker. It didn't seem to matter to people whether the first, second, or third string was in there. The complaint was running up the score. And I agree wholeheartedly. It's a disgusting practice and I don't know why I didn't see the immorality of my thinking before.

If it makes a difference to you, though, some of the starters for Florida were in the game at the end. It was a disgusting display of good offense.

You Right 'Bout Dat!
Dayhiker, you should have seen the guy. LSU was down by 21 at the half. About three minutes into the second half, LSU was down by 30. One of his players is called for a foul and Brady walks out on the court to argue with the ref... TWEEET! Technical foul. The ref tells him to sit down and he just stands there glaring... TWEEET! Another technical foul and he's ejected from the game. There was an article in the paper today. Apparently he took a long walk around the Florida campus which he found to be quite beautiful. I hadn't realized he was like that but you're right, guess he has a lot of angst.

Sounds like we'll have a beer, fenway. E-mail me and we can set up the time and place. I'll try to see if there are any tickets left, also. I could probably get some scalped tickets, if nothing else.
It is hard to like Chenowith, but I think he was just a laid-back beach boy and didn't keep up his intensity.
If Colorado really thinks they are going to hand it to the Jayhawks at Allen Field House, then I feel sympathy for them. Instead of the 3,000 fans that were at the Coors Center, (that made Harrison feel like he was playing on the road), there will be 16,000 roaring fans and they will all be true blue.
Hey, Arc, I'm still rooting for the Gators. Will that help to keep you from posting the "run up the score" rant again? Let me know.

Kansas University, home of James Naismith, Phog Allen, Dean Smith, Wilt Chamberlain, and Danny Manning. Adolph Rupp, from Kansas. Gene Keady, from Kansas. The list goes on and on.....

Yeah I'm through with that "run up the score" BS, Dun. It's such a stupid argument that I couldn't resist. But I don't have enough buckets to handle all of the drool coming out the side of my mouth when I try to think about how to lampoon a stupid argument.

GATORS looked awful against Georgia. They were lucky if they shot 40%. Everything Florida put up was a brick, everything Georgia put up, went in. Georgia shot over 70% for the game and did a great job with a short-handed team.

Looks like Florida is out of the championship picture with two losses...Oh, wait...This is college basketball, they have a playoff system. There's still hope for this young team.

GO JAYHAWKS!

You are constantly trying to make a favourable impression and endeavouring to be considered as that someone "special". You are pretty good at using various tactics and strategies that give the impression that you are in control. Maybe you are ... but you are constantly watching to see whether or not your endeavours are truly appreciated. Be careful.... Just as "you" may be endeavouring to influence others, "they" may indeed be influencing you ....

You are lazy ... You dream of a peaceful, calm, uncluttered and uncomplicated life. Your ideal would be to share a permanent base with some person or persons who would be able to demonstrate on-goinglove, peace and security.

Your confidence has been shattered... There are so many things that you would like to do with your life, so many dreams to be fulfilled, and you know that your hopes and dreams are not just figments of your imagination... they are real, and you are looking for reassurance from someone. Basically your fears are such that you may be prevented in attaining your hopes and dreams. Even now you would like to broaden your fields of endeavour...but in order to develop your "inner- self" you need peace and solace. You are distressed by the fear that you may be prevented from attaining your goals.. What you really need at this particular moment in time is quiet reassurance from someone close to you to restore your confidence.

You are being unduly influenced by the situation that is all around you. You do not like the feeling of loneliness and whatever it is that seems to separate you from others. You know that life can be wonderful and you are anxious to experience life in all its aspects, to live it to the full. You therefore resent any restriction or limitations that are being imposed on you and you insist on going it alone.

You don't like conflict and you endeavour to avoid criticism. You want to do your own thing and to be able to decide what is right for you. You have considerable personable charm - and this is used with considerable effect on those that keep your company..

I'm looking forward to seeing if they can continue to improve on their road woes after the big win at Georgia. They could win, or could get blasted.
