That's a much better spot to be in than to be #1 at one point and then go falling out of the top 25. I saw a little of their game with USF. It was a pretty good game.

KU made a heck of a comeback against OU, but didn't quite get there. It was still a nice run.

USF plays pretty well at home. And seeing as how Memphis managed to lose to them here, I think they were a little tight going into that game. The next big hurdle will be Cincy, then the Conf USA tourny.

March is going to be exciting!

Somebody’s team nearly staged a pretty impressive comeback the other night against Oklahoma.

Fortunately Rutgers has no such pressure this year.

No need to constantly shower me with compliments, Day. It's embarrassing (for you).

You may be right Dunadan. The Big Twelve looks very good. Now, if they would only stop beating up on themselves. Reminds me of football season in the SEC.

I don’t know about the SEC this year, Dun. Kentucky looks good. Florida has moments of brilliance. But who have ya got after that? Let’s face it, once #1 ranked Bama IS RANK. I mean, they really bite the big one. They smell, they stink, they’re putrid. They blow, they suck, they pass gass, they…

Sorry. I was really getting into it wasn’t I?

Watch it. Now my team is going to loose a game. That's what I get for mouthing off about that horrible, awful, terrible, stinking mess of an Alabama team.

Well, fans, many of the so-called experts are predicting Florida as a #1 seed in the South. Kentucky in the East, Oklahoma in the Midwest, (however, that loss to Missouri last night didn't help them), and Arizona out West. I really wouldn't mind if that's the way it ends up. As long as the Jayhawks don't get a #1 seed, I'll be happy. I don't think they have played strong enough to deserve it, and I would hate to see them be the first #1 to lose to a #16. All of the other aforementioned teams however......
Maybe Alabama is just saving their energy for the NIT tournament. ALL of their energy.

Memphis remained true to form last night by pounding the hapless TCU team.

The game against Cincy will be the next true test. We have them at home Saturday.

Will The Tide get five more wins and make it to the NCAA tourney?
Kansas just lost one of its great players against Texas A&M. Wayne Simien has a bum shoulder and finally whacked it for good. With our lack of depth, the boys will have to play totally inspired ball from here on out.
We lost a recruit to Texas. Life is not fair.

Sorry, Dunadan. Lack of depth is a killer at tournament time. Your team looked so promising at the beginning of the year.

Just like Alabama did, but....

I won't go there

Good Lord I hope that Florida is not a #1 seed. Y'all remember what happened the last time they were ranked #1. Florida has a relatively young team. Heads get swelled, games get lost.

Florida finishes at Auburn (Saturday), at Georgia (Tuesday), and at home against Kentucky. They'll be lucky to escape all of that with only one loss. And that's all before the SEC tourney.

A #2 seed would be fantastic. But if Florida DOES come to play for all of those last games, anything less than a Final Four finish would be a disappointment. Florida has LOTS of depth and everyone can shoot.

KU has Oklahoma State at home. Dangerous game.
Then the Border War with Missouri. Very dangerous game, especially after they beat Oklahoma. I'll bet they are all pumped up.

Lobos Knock Off No. 22 Utah, 76-69
Douglas Goes 26-31 from the line
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --University of New Mexico senior guard Ruben Douglas scored 39 points and hit a school record-shattering 26-31 free throws as the Lobos upended No. 22 Utah, 76-69, in The Pit on Saturday afternoon, snapping the Utes nine-game winning streak. Douglas sank nine of 10 from the line in the final 1:22 as Utah (21-5, 9-2 MWC) sent New Mexico (10-15, 4-8 MWC) to the line 26 times in the final five minutes of the game.

Way to go, Lobos! When I heard the score on the radio, I thought of you, Pathman. That must have been an excellent game. How does a player even get to the free throw line that many times? You'd think the Utes would try to foul someone else, occasionally.
Hogs beat Miss St? I think Arkansas might be a team to watch next season.....
Congratulations.
Kansas won against Oklahoma St. It was Senior Day, and KU hasn't lost on Senior Day since 1983. If the Jayhawks can win the rest of their regular season games, I will be impressed.
How did everyone else's teams fare?

RE: Lobos
How does somebody get to the free throw line that many times? It is the only way they can stop him! When they don't foul him, he runs and shoots instead. The guy is awesome. He also had 14 rebounds.

The new coach seems to have things moving in the right direction. He's building a disciplined and hard working team.

Harrick Sr. has had some clouds following him around from job to job. It doesn't seem that this will stick, but let's wait and see. In the meantime, Georgia messed up Florida's season a little bit. Looks like they will have to beat Kentucky convincingly to get a #1 seed.
Now, there is talk of Kansas getting a #1 seed if they win the Big 12 outright. As flattering as that would be, I hope they do win the Big 12 and don't get the #1 seed. I don't like having that big target painted over my Jayhawks.....
Look out for Conference USA and the Missouri Valley this year!

I agree, Dunadan. #1 wasn't kind to the GATORS before, I can do without it now. A #2 would be just peachy.

Did anyone stay up for the Florida/Georgia game? That was one incredibly great basketball game. Both teams looked as if they will go a long way into the tournament. It was a well played, and very exciting game.

During their last game, in Gainesville, Anthony Roberson hit a buzzer beater jumper over Georgia's Jarvis Hayes for the win. Tuesday night in Athens, Jarvis Hayes hit a two with 14 seconds left, giving Georgia a one point lead. The GATORS brought the ball down court, passed a couple of times, Matt Walsh slipped while handling the ball, he floundered around for a second, then finally passed the ball to a wide open David Lee who was right under the basket. Lee put the ball in the hoop but the refs called the shot off. It was close. I mean reeeeeeal close. If there had been one tenth of a second more on the clock, the shot would have counted.

That's the kind of game you like to see. It wasn't that one team choked or played sloppy. It was two pretty good teams going at it until the final buzzer.

I tend to agree arky, but I imagine they are seeing some things that will cause the NCAA to go nuts and they are trying to punish themselves severly enough not to get whacked after the investigation.

Wow, something stinks in Athens. Are they going to have to forfeit their wins? That makes Florida look better, huh?

Sounds like Kansas will be considered for a #1 seed in the big tourney, depending on what they do in the Big 12 tourney. I don't know....I think they still should give it to Duke. That makes it ever more enjoyable when they lose.....
