Unfortunately taking a look at the top 10 or 15 picks of yours and mine, I'm going to need some strategic wins to maintain my huge lead on you.

Come on stickman - you're not going to pull for the team that put you out of the tourney. UAB and Bama both get the kiss of death, they'll share the cover of SI that's coming out on Wed.

Whats the possibility of a UCONN/Pittsbugh rematch for the Title game?

I didn't pick it I have Okla State beating Pitt and going to San Antonio, but Pitt is a definate possibility.

Nothing flashy, but Pittsburgh has an abilty to have more points then the other team at the end.

I still like the Huskies to take it all.

Calhoun had stomach problems and had to leave a game for a while. That happened in 1999 and they took at all.

I think the Okafer/Gordon combo is better then the Allen/ElAmin was and I also think that this team has a much better supporting cast. Only thing they lack is a player with the defensive skills or Ricky Moore.

Remamber what he did to the Blue Devils at the "Duke Invitational"?

The next time UCLA, Indiana, UNC, Dook, Kentucky, and yes...Kansas, wins the national championship will be too soon for me. These "storied" programs have had their share. Time to spread the wealth a little more.

Wake vs. St. Joe's

Wake should dominate the boards in this one. The Jameer Nelson/Chris Paul matchup will be fun to watch. I'm not sure we know yet how good St. Joe's is. We'll probably know after tonight.

Word on the street is that Gene Keady is done at Purdue and it's looking like he is going to University of San Francisco. Lavin is probably topping the list of replacements for Mean Gene.

I didn't pick St Joe's to go this far but I'm glad they at least got to stick it to Billy Packer ( what a prick).

My daughter has UConn going all the way and I gave her the $5 to join the pool so we're splitting it if she wins.

Oh well, two out of four ain't bad.

Told you doubters that St. Joe's would do it. I have to admit, when Wake was up by nine in the first I got a little worried. I thought for a minute there the Hawks would only win by one, but they pulled it out.

Now for the test. Brang it on, baby!

I say Texas, Kansas, GT, and Duck.

Xavier is playing great, but I think Texas may be too deep for them.

I am extremely anxious about the Dook/IL game. My head says: why pick against Dook? After all, I do have them beating IL in my pool bracket. I just hope Illinois doesn't have to battle the Dook players AND the refs in this game. Seems like if you blow on Redick, you get whistled.

The big question is will Kansas make it to the final four without having boarded a plane yet or played a team seeded higher than 9? I'm going to guess yes.

There you go; Texas, Puke, Kansas, Nevada.

Yes, now that I am pretty sure that I have no chance in any of my various pick 'em contests, I can unequivocally root for all the underdogs. Ahhh, it’s a sense of freedom.

Nah, not me lizs. If it was such a concern I would have backed out. I look at it this way: if Illinois won, they would be fighting for the final four since they already have been to the final eight a couple times. If they surpassed the final four, I would be home to see those games anyway.

So I plan to have more fun spending time with TTer's on this trip. If that's not what happens, I blame you lizs. ;-p

I'm not going to get there until after dark on Friday. You will have a nice camp fire going to guide me in...won't you?

By the way, Dayhiker, thankyou for correcting my math. I concur with your last figure of 2,199. After Saturday, March 27th, I have Dunadan's point total at 2,728. The math is getting easier as we march along, (Thank Me).

Sorry to see the state of Alabama go down in a "blaze" of glory. Both teams exceeded everyone's expectations and should feel proud, once the disappointment wears off.
OK St, Duk, and You-Cons all look like tough teams. I hope there is one less ACC team after tomorrow night, but GT is another tough team. Good luck to everyone!
Dunadan
1:06:07 AM
3/28/04

Dunadan, the disappointment will never wear off. In the case of St. Joe's, they played Ok State even for 40 minutes and came up short. They had the ball in the hands of the right man, he pulled the trigger, and he just missed. They played with all the heart in the world and expected more. It was a barn-burner of a game. They did not quit; they didn't have a horribly bad game; and they were up against a powerful team. They were so close, but not close enough.

So the players are devastated. They may come to accept it, but they'll never like it.

For the city, they provided a winter of excitement and outstanding basketball. We could not have asked for more. But we're beginning to wonder what curse Philadelphia is under: Phillies in 93, Eagles the last three seasons, and now St. Joe's.
