ESPN still says that Memphis is "on the bubble". I think the selection committee will want them in the dance for the sake of the best tournament.

How should we put the bracket on this site? Or should we just predict Final Four and those games? Who has a good idea on this? We can recruit Violin if we need some html help.
I want to warn everyone about betting on KU. Even though they look invincible and, of course I'm behind them all the way, they have been known to perform below expectations in the past. I appreciate anyone who will pick them as the winner, just weigh all of your options first.
I can't wait for the bracket to come out.

We could pick which teams advance from each round. That would be five rounds plus the championship winner. For each correct pick, we get points. Points should escalate as the rounds advance.

Or we could go with Max's concept. Assign a number to each team in the tournament and add up points each time your teams win. Every time a team wins, you get the amount of points you have assigned to that team.”

I'm definately paying attention to the points this time. I just cut and pasted someone else's list and substituted my winners. I think I had the 2nd best winning %. I will have one luxury/unrealistic pick which will, of course, be Bama in the Final Four. I keep telling myself that yesterday's game didn't happen. If I tell myself that enough, then maybe it'll be true. Right?

“One question would be when KU and the other 32 teams lose in the first round, does everyone get 1 point? In other words, at each round you have a tie instead of descending order. Great Eight has 4 losers, Sweet Sixtenn has 8, and so forth.”

What I mean is that there won't be a 65th place team AND a 64th place....I guess you could say that if you lose in the first round you get 1, if you lose in the 2nd, you get 2, and so forth...”

So, if a team you chose to do better, goes out in the 2nd round, like Florida, you would still get two points? Is that better than just getting points from the teams you have assigned numbers to? If I give Memphis 64, (or 65) points, and avoid the guys in the white coats who are trying to take me away, and they keep winning, I keep adding up the 64, (or 65) points until they drop out.
If I assign Cincinatti 64 points and they inevitably go out in the first round, well too bad. I only collect points for the points that I assigned their opponents, (Davidson) who whipped them soundly.

“I just read the post about Nolan. He has been a good coach for us for a long time. A few people thought that he was losing his desire and criticized him for it. The reason this whole thing blew up was that Nolan can't take criticism. It is as simple as that. Some people believed that he would try to leave during the season just to get his assistant Mike Anderson a chance to show what he can do. The only way that he will get the job is to win the SEC tourney. The thing is they can be good enough to beat anyone in the conference, but they can be bad enough to lose to anyone. They will probably try to get Bill Self from Illinois or Darrell Walker if Self is not available.”

You know these underdog teams pull up bulletin board material from anywhere, and I'm afraid that they will see my posts and it will incite them into whippin' up on the poor Jayhawks, who don't mean anyone any harm and just want to play nice and get through the tournament undefeated. Is that so much to ask?
BTW, I noticed Chili abandoned his team and went to Florida whem the Tigers needed him.”

KU plays at noon, CST, today, in the "One More Chance To Beat Kansas Invitational". I am not a big fan of post season tournaments. Don't be surprised if the Jayuawks drop one in this tourney.”

“I read an article where Roy Williams and Billy Donovan said that it really wasn't a bad thing to lose in the conference tourney. They both were quoted as saying that it could help you in the NCAA's. It was noted that the years the Jayhawks went furthest in the NCAA's were also the years they were ousted in the conf. tournament. Same for Florida. The year they went to the finals they also were beaten early in the SEC.”

That's a nice thought, dayhiker, and it's true. But, alas, Florida just isn't ready for the big time this year. I'll have to see the match-ups before I pick where I think they'll fold. I'll have to satisfy myself rooting for other folks teams. That should be easy enough. Except for Dunadan, who has been a complete cad, all you other folks have managed to remain perfect gentlemen about this whole thing. What's wrong with y'all?”

“OK, I'll bite. Alabama beat EVERY team in the SEC at least once. Duke Vitale went on and on about how great the SEC East is and how they could be the best conference in America by themselves. We beat every one of there a$$es this year. We swept the whole eastern division. Beat KY and GA at their place and in their face. UF...W, SC...W, Vandy...W, UT...W. We'll take our #2 seed and kick tail. How am I doing arc? I sound like you during football season! We're going to take our SEC Coach of the Year, SEC Player of the Year, and SEC Freshman of the Year and shove it down the NCAA's throat. We've already done that to the SEC, now it's time for some real teams.”

“My Tide was dang lucky to get past SC this afternoon. We were fortunate to get a ghost foul called after a whistle blew. It was a tie game and that was a 3 point play to pull us ahead with about 25 seconds to play.

Arc, oh Arc.......are we gonna line up against each other? Billy Pecker was saying that the West Regional was the toughest, then the East, but I think they all look tough and the Midwest has some scary upset-minded teams in their bracket.
Congratulations to the Bearcats. However, if Oklahoma continues to play defense like they did against KU, they will go far in the tourney.
Didn't I say not to be surprised if Kansas dropped a game in the Big 12 tourney? Hopefully they got the bad game out of their system.
OK, everyone who aspires to Basketball Deification should have their numbers assigned to each team in the tourney by noon EST on Thursday, March 14, 2002. Shall we agree that points will be added for winners, only? You only add the points you have assigned to a team when they win. Once they are out of the tourney, they will do you no good.
What do you guys say?”

“Also, I don't think it is fair to have to take on a religious school in the first round. I mean, if we get The Man Upstairs ticked off at us, how can we win the championship?

“Or we rate the team we think will go all the way as a 64 and then descend in order from there. That way, the highest score wins. We need to confer on this matter.
