The Illini are at Northwestern tonight. I am going to guess they will be a little fired up after Keady (mentor) broke the Illini home winning streak by beating Weber (protege) last Saturday.

Anyone see the KY/Miss St. game last night? Man, KY got out of that one by the skin of their teeth.

The MSU/KY game was a good one. I was pulling for the Dawgs.

Rutgers plays undefeated Pittsburg today at Pittsburg. They haven't lost a home game in the 30 games at their new arena.

I'm skeert.

Bittersweet night in Lobo Land. The Pit should be rocking tonight against Air Force, but they had to do a "Pack the Pit" promotion to do it.

Illinois and the Suckeyes are in a tight game in the second half. If Weber loses two straight at home, he will be lambasted by Illini fans. That hasn't happened in years.

And it did not happen this afternoon. Illini again beat the Suckeyes.

Well, Weber should at least pretend he is unaffected by the criticism he is receiving from the Illini fans. He has popped off with some quotes that aren't helping his situation. Coach Weber, don't even try to compare yourself to the former coach. Be a head coach in your own right.

Congrats to the NC fans.
The Jayhawks sure aren't scoring like they did last year. However, they are playing more like a top-level team and picking up the W's on the road. Both are good signs.

Rutgers plays everyone tough, but aren't quite there, just yet.
Puke. What else can I say????
Kentucky....ouch! Sorry Stickman.
Oklahoma is in a big funk.
Vandy over the Gators. Sorry Arc.
Pretty wild season. Maryland beats NC, who beats UConn, but loses today.
The tourney could be wild.
Also, Stanford is still undefeated. Someone should drop these guys, and soon.

Dunadan, I agree with you regarding Weber's comments. It may be the result of his nervousness and what he feels are greater expectations moving to big time college basketball.

Stanford - they have a legit chance of finishing the season undefeated. Pac-10 isn't a powerhouse conference this year and the remaining game against Zona is at Stanford.

Unfortunately, Kentucky is good for one or two of these a season. Games they have no business losing, yet manage to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Well, Stickman, if it's any consolation, the Jayhawks tried to give the game away at mighty Texas A&M. If they don't learn the meaning of "rebound" soon, they are gonna be hurtin' for certain.

Iowa St 68-61 Jayhawks
Dunadan's last post was prophetic. Think this will hurt your ranking? Why is lizs being so quiet?

Rutgers has been playing well lately. The Notre Dame coach had some really nice words for them after yesterday's game: "They've got a heck of a basketball team. Rutgers is a talented group. They've got great chemistry this year. I'm very impressed."

Hey - if things continue this way, maybe... just maybe, we'll see a Jayhawks/Scarlet Knights match-up in the NCAA's.

Hey, Violin. As far as rankings go, I think the Jayhawks deserve to be in the lower half of the top 25 somewhere. They could go on to win it all, but right now they are inconsistent, and I'm trying to put it nicely.
I would love to meet up with your Scarlet Gang. Would a meeting between the two generate another bet that I won't have to honor?

A few things that stand out to me: Arizona at 14 and UConn at 5 are too highly ranked. Florida dropping only one spot after losing at home just aint right. Sorry Dunadan, but I think Kansas is lucky to be ranked with some of the bad losses that they have. KU/Mizzou tonight. I'm really torn on this game. I dislike Quinny-Poo with a passion, but a Mizzou win would help the Illini RPI.

No way Stanford will go undefeated. They will lose to either (or both!) Arizona (at home - a tradition between the schools; road team has won last 7 meetings) and/or Cal (rivalry game). Maybe even one or two others, too. Better to lose a game or two anyway - too much pressure going into the tourney undefeated....

Hub, I agree. The Jayhawks haven't proven yet that they are in the top eschelon. They could turn out to be a world beater, but for now, they are in the middle of the pack. There are glimpses of brilliance, but we will see.
How many losses did Syracuse have when they entered the tourney last year?
Stanford will not go undefeated. It they do, they will have a massive target on their backs come tournament time.

How 'bout 'dem Tigers. Granted it was a short handed Louisville team, but when the dust cleared, Memphis still had another one locked up in the W column.

Memphis has strung together some nice wins. Topping Pitino's crew will go a long way in the selection committee's eyes. Some rough road games are on the way - Marquette, Louisville, and Cincinnati. Winning one of those, and the fact that they have held serve at home, should lock a tournament spot.

Kansas Jayhawks 96, Texas Tech Red Raiders 77. Probably Kansas' best game this season. If the boys can keep putting it together like this, the season could be a great one.

I feel a little sheepish about showing my face on this thread after Saturday's game.

Stupid Seton Hall really made it hard for Rutgers to make it to the NCAA's. Its still a mathematical possibility though.

They showed a lot better sportsmanship than in our last meeting when a blantant shove into the bleachers started a bench clearing brawl.
