Total disbelief right now. A Big Ten school should not be able to hire such a fine coach.

What's next?? Billy Donavan takes over at Michigan?

This is akin to Bill Curry leaving Bama for Kentucky in football. Real coaches don't take a step down. The rumor is that he was asked to replace his staff and he refused. Supposedly the whole state was hoping he'd take the Minnesota job.

Memphis is in a dogfight.

But I bet Dunadan's ass is so tight right now you couldn't drive a toothpick in there with a sledge hammer. SIU is scrappy.

Kansas avoids the upset and the lead changes in the A&M/Memphis game are too numerous to keep up with. I think I will just drink until the last 30 seconds. The team with the ball last is probably going to win.

Jesus! I am in heart attack mode.

3.1 seconds and a 1 pt lead

I don't know how they calculated that 1.1 second checkoff, but I am not complaining.

Tennessee needs to either blow out OSU or get kicked. I can't take another 5 minutes of holding my breath.

Yo, Chili. I was pretty edgy the first half, but Kansas is a second half team. I was pretty sure that they were going to do what it takes to get the "W". I have been around the boards tonight, and it's ugly how many SIU fans think that the refs won the game for KU. The bad calls went both ways, as the Salukis got by with some flagrant fouling all throughout the game. Take away the hacks and the holding, and SIU doesn't have quite as good of a defense, IMHO.
Congratulations on the Memphis win, Chili. How much did you pay Acie Law to blow that lay-up? In any case, Memphis looks tough.
However, Tennessee blew a big lead, no? I thought they had this one in the bag, so I turned off the game. WOW.
It's how the race horse comes down the stretch, isn't it?

Tennessee got robbed. Totally missed a foul at the end of the game last night that would have put Tennessee at the line shooting 2 and a chance to win the game.

Ohio State is not going to be able to beat Memphis.

it was a great game. I have watched enough UT basketball to know you never feel comfortable even with a big lead. When they are hitting it is great but when they go cold and start rushing shots it can fall apart.
Can't figure out why they didn't get the ball in Lofton's hand though.
Ewker

Yeah the big topic today is why they didn't try to get Loftin the ball. But the overall concensus is that with 5 seconds to play, UT did what they needed to do. Having a monster block a shot like that was not a good way to go down. Overall, UT just didn't have the experience to pull it out. It wasn't a bad call that go them, it was really crappy free throw shooting.

Looking forward to the games tonight. Chili, you are BARELY ahead of me in the TT Yahoo bracket.

I climbed out of the cellar.

I wish So. Illinois would have faced Florida. That would have been a little more interesting than Kansas. I don't think Butler has the tenacity to take the Gators out. I bet it is close at half, but the Gators win by double digits.
Wounded Knee

I agree, WK. Unless Butler has the game of their lifetimes, (possible, but not likely), they are going down big time. Florida does have the ability to play good defense, and with the size and speed advantage, this could be a laugher. Hope not.
I usually want all the higher seeds out of the tourney so that KU can face the lower seeds, but this year I want the Jayhawks to go throught the toughest teams out there. No excuses. Let the chips fall how they may!

No, Memphis did not get screwed. Ohio State played like a monster.
Kansas, however, played like a third grade girls team, (no offense to third grade girls). How can you miss so many lay-ups????????????
Dayhiker, bring on the video!
My wife quit watching with five minutes to go, but I watched to the very bitter end. It was so bizarre that I couldn't take my eyes away. Afterwards, all I could do was laugh, because, well, it was a total lauger of a game. As always....

Trivia.
January 21, 2006 - Three of the Nation's, four undefeated, mens basketball teams lost their games that day. They were Duke, Univ. of Florida and Univ. of Pittsburgh. Who had the only remaining unbeated team in the land? On that day they beat St. Norbert College 79-68. The Vikings went on to win their third consecutive Midwest Conference Championship before losing 71-68 to Illinois Wesleyan Univ. on March 10th in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division III Tournament.

If you haven't guessed, it was Lawrence University of Appleton, Wisconsin, my Alma Mater. The Head Coach is now leaving to coach a Division II team at Hillsdale College, Hillsdale, MI.

I have to admit it really bothered me watching all those Tennessee players running around in $250 sneakers... knowing that they probably have multiple pairs when most people in Tennessee don't even have one pair of shoes.

Gosh, violin. Do you have to be so cruel to Tennessee fans? You'll never find me talking trash like that. I use different words.

History is being made again. For the first time, the same two teams are meeting in the championship games of the two major college sports in the same year.

I hope Buddha Bear sticks his head out of his closet long enough to notice the fantastic accomplishment of playing for the national championship in two major sports. Good luck to Ohio State!

Wouldn’t it be great to turn perception of its head? The majority of sports fans (especially on the west coast and in the north) gave Florida no chance of beating Ohio State for the mythical national championship in football. Now the majority of sports fans are giving Ohio State no chance of beating Florida in basketball.

I love twist endings but no, I would prefer to see the Florida basketball team win as easily as our football team. Florida shows how the game should be played: as a TEAM. I would prefer to go to bed tonight with a good feeling for those boys who play so well together.

But, good luck to Buddha, and to all Ohio State fans who are still in hiding, wherever you are. It would be a sweet feeling for Ohio State fans should they win tonight.

On another note: congratulations on the Florida women’s gymnastics team for winning the SEC championship. This could bode well for another national championship considering Florida is ranked #1, Georgia #2, Alabama #3, and LSU #4.

What a joke! I bet ya the Rutgers womens BB team could beat OSU by double digits. Georgetown deserved to be in the final against Florida. At least they would have given them some game.

Now I read that Iowa sucked in Butler's head coach.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=2823327

Should have stayed in Butler. Fine institution! Now going to a program that sucked and will continue to suck
