Congratulations, Bowlder, and all the Cardinal fans. Could be a barn-burner. (AND, how about Montgomery going to CAL???)

Hah! Everybody has made such a big deal about Montgomery, but he didn't GO to Stanford; Stanford was his employer. I don't see why he'd have any special allegiance to one employer, especially after he'd been gone for a few years anyway.

The thing I worry about on Tuesday is that Tennessee has the "revenge factor." Our gals were able to use that as motivation against Connecticut, and it worked out pretty well. Stanford is playing really, really well right now. I may even be able to bring myself to watch it (usually, I can't stand to watch)....

Folks, the KU Jayhawks need all the positive vibrations they can get. Uncle Dunny is here to ask for donations of good energy to the cause.
Thanks for your support.

I've been saying it all season!!!
Folks, can I get a witness? That was almost a trip to the emergency room with a heart attack for old Dunadan. One of the aspects of this game that I really appreciate is that both teams played well. They battled each other down to the wire. Another aspect that I love is that Chili is going to have to provide me some great ale. (e-mail me, Chili).
I'll spare all of you the chant this one time, that's how good I feel right now.
Always remember this: The Jayhawks' first coach was the man who invented the game.

Great game...I tried to go to bed w/two minutes left in regulation when KU was down by like 9. Glad I didn't.

Fun game to watch. I'm glad I didn't have any special affinity for either team - I probably would have thrown a brick through my TV screen if I were a Memphis fan.

Tonight:

Stanford's last 2 games: beat two #1 seeds by an average score of 90-80.

Tennessee's last 2 games: beat two #2 seeds by an average score of 50-46.

Should be "interesting"....

Great game, pathetic coaching and foul shooting by Memphis. Congrats to KU on the victory and Calipari and Memphis for making it to the big game but ya absolutely blew it with 10 remaining. I know this is being discussed almost everywhere but could not believe Memphis was not going to send KU to the line with 4 seconds to go. Worst case scenario you get the ball back still up by one?

Heard Calipari sound bite this morning that they did indeed try to foul, but the Kansas guys just basically ran away from them too well.

I was for Memphis, because they beat UCLA. Games like that are good for the longrun of the game.

I don't know why Memphis would be trying to foul the player with the basketball; too risky. As soon as KU approached half court the center or either forward should have been fouled and held from making a cut for the ball. How many games did Bruce Pearl win this year under this scenario with an intentional unintentional-foul; 4 or 5? I know hindsight is 20/20 and the chances of the game going to overtime were still slim but why not make it almost impossible for a comeback; especially since your starting center is on the bench for the rest of the game.

What happened to the Stanford we saw all tournament? They were nervous and tight from the tipoff.

Tennessee was relentless on D - always in their face. They got rattled, and then made a zillion unforced mistakes on top of the ones forced by the excellent defense. Add to that some timely lousy calls (and I never complain about calls) early in the game, and it was over by about halfway through the first half.

BowlderSon and I went down to Stanford tonight to watch the final practice scrimmage for the football team. It's free, and you can sit anywhere, so we sat about 10 rows up from the field. A few minutes after we sat down, I could hear a few young women arrive and sit a couple rows behind us. B-Son leans over to me and whispers "Jayne Appel is sitting right behind us." Sure enough, when I glanced back there, there she is, with legs stretched out to the seat in front of her (I think they list her as 6'5"). Not long after, her friend, guard JJ Hones came in and sat with them. No Candice Wiggins, though - she's a senior and they're sophs, I think.... B-Son was too chicken to ask them for autographs....

Tennessee has more talent than ever, this year. Pearl is loaded and hopes are high.

Calapari seems to have reloaded and will be tough again.

I can't wait for opening tip off.

I like the fact that Bruce is giving Chattanooga, Martin, Tusculum and MTSU a chance to play us. They get exposure and we get to tune up.

We lose to any of those four and we have problems.

We go 7-5 and I doubt it. We go 6-6 and it will cross someone's mind, we go 5-7 and it will be discussed.

We go 4-8 and it's a sure thing.

Let's see..

We have 2 losses.. add three for Bama, Auburn and Georgia..that's five.

...you can figure that one of either Vandy, Kentucky, or SC will manage to beat us....that is six (at least, maybe 8 if we lose all three)

Surely we can beat NIU, Wyoming and Miss. State.

It's hard to say where Kansas will end up this season. I expect them to make the NCAA tourney, but beyond that, it's all speculation. KU will be a young team with huge potential. I expect a couple of seasons before the Jayhawks are monsters again.
However, this is for sure. It will be an immensely exciting season and KU fans are looking forward to getting to know all the new faces.
Chili, don't you think KU and Memphis should start a home-and-home with each other?
