The book is very well done. I wish he would write a followup on the knowledge we have now about Al Queda's involvement and the political climate that led to it.

Is the book/movie based on Al Queda network in Samolia?

It is based on the firefight. The info about Al Queda in Somalia came out later.

Add me to the list of people who think the movie was well done and worth seeing. They followed the book well and showed remarkable restraint in avoiding 'Hollywoodizing' the story. The book has a lot more detail, so if you see the movie and find the story intriguing, its still worth reading the book. You get a lot of insight into what the soldiers were thinking and feeling as the battle went on. Many of those guys had never been shot at before.

How's that for a new word - 'Hollywoodizing'

Hollywoodizing
One of the Rangers interviewed in the History Channel show described the peak of the firefight as "Hollywood", as in surreal or over the top.

Two of the Rangers involved acted as "trainers" for the actors to attempt to add realism.

Another showing
on the History Channel.

"If you missed the premiere of The True Story of Black Hawk Down, catch an encore performance Saturday, January 26 at 8 p.m."

That is probably eastern time. As they say, check your local listings.
