Poppinfresh, you should be spending your Saturday nights doing fun exciting things, not hanging out on TT.

Poppinfresh

A friend has been in for 20 years and still loves it.

Basic is the worst part of it. So if you can set your mind focused on beyond basic training while you're in it, you'll be better off. Lots of luck.

Poppinfresh, just think of it. You are going to be one lean and mean machine when you get done with basic. Some people pay money to get fit, they are going to be paying you. Then comes the hard part-we depend on you.

Its a mindset. Engage. If you want to do it, you can.

poppinfresh....

Before I enlisted I was a 200 fatboy with manboobs. I started running and doing pushups, situps and weights before. I got outta basic at 165lbs. Physically it was not too bad. You are started off fairly slow then build your way up. The hard part is mental. NEVER EVER let yourself quit at anything you are doing, once you give up it is too easy next time. Find something that will motivate you and hold onto that in you mind, work for it. Mine was a former fiancee. I did it for her. I also didint think long term. I broke my day up in manageable pieces. I would use mealtimes as my incentive, that made the day three pieces to be handled individually. I also made sure taht at night when we given time to write home I would FIRST go run 2-3 more miles which was encouraged THEN I wrote letters. I did basic housekeeping (shoe shinning etc...) during guard duty which you will have most nights. DONT ask questions or kiss @ss it will kill you. Work hard and volunteer for work details that suck this is rewarded. Listen and when it gets tough suck it up. You gotta be hard to be hard.

Basic can be such a rewarding experience, embrace it and dominate it.GOOD LUCK!!!!!!
