“Anyone know where I can get a good trail microwave oven? It'd have to be under 1-1/2 lbs and run on Esbit fuel tabs... But seriously...what are some good (SIMPLE) meals I can make with only a single pot?” 11:06:19 PM 1/16/02 “The list is almost to long to put on here go to the grocery store there are so many one pot prepackaged meals you can eat something different for a month” 6:38:32 AM 1/17/02 “centavo, maybe I'm just having brain freeze on this...I'm in the grocery store all the time, and I can't think of more than a few one-pot meals that don't require meat. I guess you're right, what I should do is go there specifically looking for such meals... Thanks!” 7:09:17 AM 1/17/02 “Here's a few good ones Zatarain's jambalaya Zatarain's black bean/rice Lipton's alfredo/pasta lipton's chicken/rice Soup starters veg. soup/pckgd. kind not the can. bring tortilla's an get the black bean pckg. make burritos get a few taco bell hot sauce pckg's to add Here's a start fritz once you get in the store possibilities are endless go to the veg. aisle there are lots of dried tomatoes an chie's an things you can add as extra flavor” 7:20:10 AM 1/17/02 “I do the lipton rice or noodle packages, and throw a can of chunk chicken in it..anyone know a better way to heat tortillas over a msr stove?” 7:55:25 AM 1/17/02 “I posted this to another thread but it was so damn good it stands to be repeated. Take a Lipton's Spanish Rice and put an extra cup of water in it. When the rice is tender add in two packets of tomato cupa soup. Absolutely killer!” 8:13:53 AM 1/17/02 “I have recently changed my cooking style. Freeze dried chicken and beef are now locally available (instead of mail order only) at my local (well, 756 km away in Montreal) outdoors store. If I'm alone I use half of the two-serving package at a time. I bought an MSR Stowaway, 1,6L pot and an insulated cup. The last meal I made, I soaked some dried tree ear and shiitake mushrooms with a ˝ pkg of dried chicken, then added a package of ramen, boiling water, soy sauce, vinegar and cayenne to make SzeTchouan ramen. It was pretty good - also linguine with pesto (olive oil with pesto in a tube). I like the convenience of the insulated cup (stainlees steel and a screw-on top) in which my food simmers in the hot water and doesn't get cold in the winter. Outside of pasta, I don't think I'll use my new pot for much cooking. I gave my thirty-five year old aluminium cooking to the ex. Just my thoughts on the issue. Oh yes, the Lipton stuff is good and we now have tuna in a bag at the local grocery. Happy trails.” 8:18:44 AM 1/17/02 Chicken Chitz “fyi - Perdue has now come out with pre-packaged cooked and ready to eat chicken chunks (not the sliced variety).” 9:08:58 AM 1/17/02
