I don't take allergy medications, but I was taking methylprednisolone and zyrtex while backpacking last weekend. I hit 11,000' and couldn't breathe or swallow. It dehydrated me, but I made it. The last 500' wasn't too bad, but I was happy when we headed back.

I'm not taking it on the weekends anymore.

I remember a few weeks ago when I had a bad cough due to allergies, the Dude told me to go out and get some fresh air. I guess what we all want is pollen-free fresh air.

Yesterday we had a pretty impressive hail storm. Scared the heck out of me and my kids. The trees were whipping like in a hurricane, and the ground was covered with white ice balls. My daffidils are ruined. I haven't seen a hail storm like that since I was camping in Lake George and a the edge of a hurricane came through there, like thirty years ago. My daughter wanted to know when we would have another one, because she was so scared, she forgot to take a picture. I've only seen two in my lifetime. Are there parts of the country where they happen more often? Just curious.

Today was the last day for all 26 (?) lifts at Mammoth to be open. With a total of 17" new snow in the last 4 days, the riding was great!

That wasn't right. Some of the lifts will be closing this weekend. Part of the mountain will be open til (maybe) June? They still have a 5-6 foot base and the snow on top is good. Got 39 days in so far. Hope to get 1-2 more weekends in before the season ends.

5 to 6 foot base...geez, and I thought Canada was known as "The Great White North". Everything near Montreal is closed for the season (except 1 hill with 1 run). There's probably a few more mountains open near Quebec city, which is about 3 hours north of Montreal (too far for me). Whistler in B.C and Banff in Alberta is still open.

The Scotch, of course. It's legal, no one looks at you funny when you're having one, and it knows what it's doing.
