Peaks in Eastern US
I will be traveling to Chippewa Falls, WI in mid-april. On my way
back to Norway, I would like to
stop somewhere between Chippewa and
the east coast for some snow-free peaks.
I hike in snow for most of the year, so a change is welcome. I'm looking for an area with density of peaks, from 2000' and upwards (hiking & scrambling, not climbs)
I've been hiking in CO & CA but never in the east, so
recommendations are welcome!

Perhaps if you're flying to Norway, you'll be departing from a NY airport? If so, check out the Catskills, I think you'll find it has just what you're looking for. Only about 2 hours on average from Manhattan, so well within reach.

Stop in Knoxville-The Smokies are your ticket. Might be a bit white up top-nothing like you are used to.
