spectacular!
Dare and I dayhiked in the Catskills on Friday (it was on our way up to the Adirondacks.)

Frozen and sparkling, the falls are incredible. The upper tier falls 175 ft, combining with the lower to make it the highest waterfall in NY (260+ ft drop.)

Here are some pictures from Kaaterskill Falls:

A group of friends and I went to Douglas Houghton Falls in the Keewenaw in winter (Michigan U.P.). We found some great ice slides, rode them to the bottom, and had a heck of a time getting back up. Its one of my favorite memories from the U.P.

The place was gorgeous and best of all we had it all to ourselves.

The mineral deposits in the soil and rock up there cause the waterfalls to have a bluish tint to them. The sunlight really sets it off, but the pics don't do it justice. :o)

I usually take the Saugherties exit off of the thruway. The falls are off 23A.

I have a bunch of shots from there, when they are raging...I'll have to try to locate them on my old computer, since photopoint is no longer in existence. (grrrr)

Here's a pic (not mine) of them in Summer-

Smiley Girl is right, the U.P. has lots of great falls to visit summer and winter. Those who have been to Pictured Rocks in the summer should see the falls in the winter.

Hi Stanlee! No, not much snow in the Catskills(where the falls were) to test out the sled. Besides that, we just dayhiked there. The Adirondacks were perfect with snow, however!

If there is one thing cool about seeing frozen water is seeing it just come out of rocks. In Hoosier National Forest there are lots of places where water just seems to come out of no where. And then it freezes. It looks real cool.

Ya that is cool becuase when the creeks are frozen on top the water is still moveing underneath the ice that also sounds cool.
