Yo yo yo
Who takes a frying pan with them when they backpack?

What kind is it?

How heavy is it?

How does it work?

Thank you.

I love cast iron!

I used to bring a 8" stainless frypan of my moms. weighed somewhere near a pound I guess.

I don't use one anymore though.

Well lately anyway, yes.

If ya get a chance ask Madman about the omlettes I made on his first trip with me. All fresh stuff.

I bought a 7" non-stick frypan at WalMart cheap, took the handle off. It still weighs 9 oz. The apple juice can I use to boil water weighs 5 oz. So the titanium pot weights published amaze me almost as much as their prices.

No, I don't carry cast iron backpacking. Now if I could talk someone into carring it for me....

I used too bring only fresh food and actually cook when backpacking.

I must be getting lazy. I think I need to start doing that again.

Nothing like a 3 egg omlette with ham, mushrooms, diced tomatoes, a little green pepper, and two types of cheese in the morning. While on the trail.

That's what I'm talking about! Now come on. Who's got a nice frying pan they take with them? I'm looking to purchase an individual pan, not a whole set. I'd like it to have a rounded bottom if possible. like a sautee pan. And I'd like it to weigh the least possible.

Cook anything with tomatoes or acid in it and away goes the coating. It's just been treated with a sulfuric acid compound to harden it. Got to see this thousands of times. Literally. Works really well though. Still best to have a teflon coating with it.

I thought the non-stick coating was teflon.
